I just killed someone for 25k Telvar. I sent them a message saying "thanks for the var", he said I was harrassing him. Was it harassment or just a sincere thanks from me?

Yes, you were being a jerk, whether it was officially harassment or not.

It's subjective, but I can see how that could be taken as harassment.

Depends what ZOS ends up thinking about it... if he reports you... and if they have time to look into it.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you think the other person is being too sensitive. What matters is what ZOS thinks of the situation. For what you described above? They would most likely do nothing about it. However, they do draw the line somewhere, whether you agree with the position of the line or not.

If the situation had been reversed, and you were the one who'd lost 25k TV to the other person, and they whispered "thanks for the var" to you, would you be inclined to respond "you're very welcome" because you felt like you'd been sincerely thanked? Be honest and realistic with yourself. How would you have felt about it?

I mean... Sheesh, one really shouldn't need to even ask. If you take a ton of stones from someone, best just let it be and leave them well enough alone. People get miffed for losing lot less, and someone, who just lost that many, is prolly not a happy camper at that moment.

Taking stones in the first place is fair game of course. He knew the risk for carrying that many, or at least should've known, and their loss is ultimately on him. But when you score a big haul, there really is no need to gloat about it. You essentially went ahead and rubbed salt into an open wound.

I don't know if it counts as harasmente by ZOS standards, but it definitely is not the cool move to make.

Dude, you know you were not sincerely thanking him. I think whispers should be turned off in pvp zones personally, I get tired of the childish tells.

dont think its neccesarily a harassment but if you do get a ban for any reason you deserve it. that is just plain bad sportsmanship being a jerk. toxic pvp players who taunt others for their pleasure shouldnt exist in any mmorpg.

First, I've lost a lot more than that. Secondly, I treat this game just like a game. If you're at the family table playing monopoly and you don't roast the others players when you're winning you aren't even playing. Also if someone is losing and starts to cry everyone tells them to stop being a poor loser. When I died and lost large amounts of var, I expect a message! If I don't get one I'll be a god damn good sport and send a fawking "good job mate, ill get you next time."

Seriously, video game nerds bring their always picked last attitude over to video games. Stop taking a GAME so SERIOUSLY.

I take it somewhat seriously since this is how I relax. It is not relaxing to be unable to complete a single quest area if you keep getting ganked by those who hide or roving ganking groups.

Yeah, you can do the dungeons, if you want to wait a LONG time for it to maybe possibly pop a pickup group.

But getting a note like this is quite tacky at best.

There is lightyears of difference between joking with actual friends and family vs giving a complete stranger a hard time. The difference is so gapping I am surprised someone would even suggest there was any similarity.

Granted, in PvP I ignore the whispers from players I killed and I cannot recall ever getting one from a player who killed me. I tend to get better reactions from not replying as they seem to get worked up because I do not care.
