I....LOVE....tanking

Seriously.
Like omg I love this role. DPS bores me bc I’m doing the rotation, and it seems monotonous. But tanking is just so...awesome. Especially as a Necro when the team wipes and you Rez them all with the ultimate.
As a tank I’m focused on gathering g mobs, holding boss, buffing my teammates, it’s so nonstop. I love it.
Where are my fellow tanks who love this role?
I love it so much that I will just queue for dailies just to provide the tank service even if I’ve done it already.
If anyone is on PC NA and needs a reliable tank...message me! My CP might be low (310) but I know my role. I came from console so I don’t know the new dungeons but I learn quickly.
Any other tank lovers here?

Totally agree with you. I love tanking. At times it is stressfull, and you are very busy when inside dungeons, but it is a great role to play. And as you said, there is no real rotation. Since you have to look around you, and act upon what is happening.

Currently I am only tanking the dungeon for the event tickets.

Tanking is the only thing enjoyable about endgame pve. At least if your group isnt totally bad and keeps blaming you for everytime they die to an easily avoidable oneshot mechanic.

Uh, that depends on your character's alliance, as well as what time of day you're on-- but mostly your alliance.

What? If you mean PvP then yes, but that doesnt matter for PvE. Alliance is irrelevant in that situation for grouping for any PvE content.

Lol well duh of course if we’re doing it right. But sometimes the group misses mechanics that gets them killed.
We were fighting Zaan last night and they all got hit by her poison cone...AT 5%.
I saved my Rez and brought them all back at once. Came back and won.
I love Necro tank. That feeling of appreciation as a tank is great.

    Glad you love it

This is why I love healing so much in MMOs. Especially in ESO where's it's about buffing and positioning. Keeping weapon/spell damage buffs up on DDs, and keeping Ring of Preservation up under my tank to help his defence and keep his stamina up.

Sadly the game is being horrendously balanced, to the point healers are becoming unwanted in groups. I might start learning how to tank and building around becoming a group heal/buff tank to support 3 DDs.

Yes, that's what I was talking about, because there's a PvP event going on so I've got PvP on the brain. The other night I left IC after doing the 6 dailies, went back to Western Skyrim, decided to scry and excavate a lead I'd found in IC before I forgot about it and it expired-- and ran around looking over my shoulder the whole time, waiting for a zerg to mow me down. :#

I agree. All my characters except one are tanks, and I only made that one because I couldn't get very far in Maelstrom Arena as a tank....

But yeah... it's awesome. And as you say, I'll show up for the daily random or pledges or run a dungeon again if I'm asked. I pretty much always PUG the dungeons and never go in pre-made (except for trials). I like to think I'm making some DPS happy by pulling them out of their awful queue time.

DPS just bores me to tears and a dedicated healer just seemed like a real chore to level up.

Tanking is where it's at. Who wants to be a sports car, when you can be a tractor...? B)

The best part of tanking for me, is to make sure the tank won't be fake. Very reassuring. I can do one pug just hoping that the healer is really a healer and not a lazy dps trying to trick the system.

In your opinions, what is the best pug dungeon tank class? Necro with auto chain pulls, aoe major fracture/breach, crazy good ult gen, great passives for sustain and hp, res ult seems very clutch.

As a DD main in any MMO for the past 15 years I've been tempted to try tanking mainly to avoid long queue times, but I'm very reluctant because there is more responsbility to understand mechanics while also dealing with low group dps. I often find my dps is 50-70% of pug groups, I can imagine how frustrating it would be when you have 2 "fake" dps not carrying their weight, even more so if they're constantly dying.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for never giving up and I enjoy helping overcome mechanics, but I don't know if I can withstand 2 hour long dungeon runs when it typically takes 20 minutes when I'm a dps (core game dungeons).

There is nothing quite like joining a pug dungeon and getting a tank thats constantly chain pulling, standing still, debuffing and providing constant warhorns + damage synergies. I think I'd be able to do that eventually, but not sure how frequent the above issue is.

Took me a few years to find myself an entertaining role in game, and it turned out to be sword/board tank, which is way outside my usual style where I'd usually be long range archer sniping, but shield tanking is just so dynamic in ESO that it's a blast. In a group however it's less fun, when you have a DPS player who doesn't know how to recover from stealing agro. More than once I've been chasing a mob around because some idiot stole agro and them started kiting. Wish they would just run to the tank like a real adult.

To learn tanking I would say DK but Necro in my opinion far beats DK. Necro has auto pull but also can use Silver Leash for more, minor protection, minor main, the best CC with bone totem, group Rez, ultimate gen is insane, sustain is excellent.

To me, chains is by far the best pull in the game...sure the necro auto-pull is great...but you have to have aggro on the ranged ads...which most often means inner fire or the like...if I have to cast inner fire...I may as well cast chains instead and not have to wait for an auto-pull. Silver Leash is a good pull....but it costs stamina...and you need stamina to block, roll dodge, sprint, etc....not to mention that if chains fails to drag something, you get the magicka spent back and STILL get aggro for a few seconds(psuedo-taunt)...plus major expedition as a bonus(great in the fight against lady thorn). Minor protection is available to DK as well with Circle of Protection(though that skill is situational and somewhat expensive stam-wise). Ultimate generation on other classes is all well and good...but unlike DK, ultimate generation does not help with sustain...using an ult on DK is just as good as drinking a tri-pot, so if you alternate pots and ults you can sustain virtually forever without even using skills like Balance. I do agree though that Necro tank has access to some amazing tanking tools that I wish I had on my DK.
