about a month old to this game..question on doing all quests.

Darkspecialist
so i have a few addons to see and list all the quests in a zone..i just came out of glenumbra..according to the addon quest journal i have 4 quests left and im am 63/67 of total quests..ive looked the quests up online and have done the quests pre and post these said quests. some people in the area that if the quests were no longer needed they might go away. assuming this is true and ill never get these four quests completed..

is there a way to do all quests in a zone i order? like i entered stormhaven and took the first i came upon..if i do them fully one at a time can i avoid missing a handful of quests each zone?

or is there a better way?

I suppose you could look up on a site like uesp.net the quests in a zone and see what quests will be negated or cancelled by other quests. Honestly, I don't think its worth it. Some of the "quests" in zones are silly. For instance in Auridon if you talk to a NPC out of order, they will make you travel to another NPC to say hello and that is considered completing a quest.

As far as I know, there is no way to override or miss the main quests lines in a zone.

There is no way to miss out on any quests. Also, almost every zone has more quests than the number specified by the achievement (Coldharbour may the exception). There are quests in delves that count and may show up in your addons. Some of the quests are out in the wild away from towns. But if you explore the map fully, you will run into the quest givers.

Your compass tells you when you are near a quest giver when you are running around in the wild.

The only quests you can miss are the transition / connection quests, i.e. you finish one part of the respective region's main quest in a location and then a quest giver, sometimes but not always the NPC you finished the last quest with, tells you where to go next. Such quests become impossible if - like me when I started out - you picked up and finished a part of the regional main quest before coming across the previous part. Sometimes such quests have quite obvious names like "To Tanzelwil" which tells you that the main quest is done in Vulkhel Guard and that you should move on to Tanzelwil to find the next part. By doing parts of regional main quests not in the expected order, you will miss these simple quests. They also exist as transitions / connections between one region and the next one. For example you pick up the tiny quest "The Dark Mane" in Malabal Tor and it tells you to go to a specific area in Reaper's March where you start that region's zone quest.
Perhaps the unavailable quests your journal lists are all such quests. I believe there are also alternate ways to stumble upon a zone quest, so perhaps there are some more such small quests that can be missed because you found the quest giver for the zone quest directly or you were sent to him or her by means of a different small quest.

There are main quests and side quests. Side quests are rather optional in the bigger picture of the region's story while the main quests have a beginning and a end. Now, if you do keep this up though and get all the Adventurer achievements for the Daggerfall Covenant zones by completing the quests you can get the Hero of the Daggerfall Covenant Achievement, which gives you a title and the Covenant Blue dye.

It may be including dungeon quests on that list also. So you would have to complete Spindleclutch 1 & 2 for those two quests in Glenumbra. I’m also not sure if vet hard mode counts toward the quest count or not.

For reference check here and you can go zone by zone to check what you have or have not cleared: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Glenumbra

I agree with @Everest_Lionheart ’s suggestion of using the UESP page for the Daggerfall Covenant Alliance (or the others when you get there). About 2/3 of the way down the page is a flow-chart of how all of the quests connect, and which ones count for zone story / Cadwell’s achievements.

Make sure you clear all the delves. Some of them have an item on the ground that you have to return to some NPC in a nearby town. It still shows up as a new quest marker on your HUD, but since you're in a delve you have to be pretty close to see it (in comparison to out in open world).
