So people who spend it quick before the xbox patch couple days ago only get a official warning. But they may hold everything.....

People who has been scared because they say they will ban accounts if u consume the crowns have noting....

Something is not correct 🤔

Regardless of whether the penalty is a warning or a ban ... why would any player think it is ethical to spend crowns that they actually didn’t pay for, @bulcke10?

Some players thought it was a gesture Zos or bethesda.. Some xbox eso fb groups with over 20k followers say use them before they take it back... So many player have been supper lucky to have over 100k crowns and spend it all to crown crates. Someone got 3300 crown gems from it 👑🤔

It's a dilemma on how they handle this..
I got 100k crowns and didn't touch them.

If there is no recourse, no action taken I'm sorry but that's only motivation to spend them..

They want to act. The problem is on a technical layer it's obviously hard for them to do it. I'm pretty sure if they just invoiced everyone for what they had with an option to give it back folks would.

They are doomed if they act (can't ban whole regions) and doomed if they don't.

Also, they should update us. My concern is if they had a data breach.

I'm sure they are having many discussions on how on earth they handle this

Not a chance would people pay back what they spent... it’s imaginary currency for some fancy looking stuff people thought was a gift. A warning is harsh for a mistake from them.

Imaginary currency that you buy for real money. A warning, if that's all they get, is extremely generous of ZOS, who just gave away hundreds of dollars worth of crowns.

Doesn’t mean it carries that value... it can be created at will, hence people receiving 100k from nothing, due to Human or IT error. only has any value to people on the game.

If you received actual money that would have to come from someone or somewhere as money does not just get created in error and appear.

Aside from DLC, everything else in the store is fluff, or pay for connivence/(p2w for low levels.)

It does suck that some people are getting 100k free crowns, while some of us are getting scammed by "crown sellers," which they do nothing about.

If I wanted to buy items from the Crown Store worth 10k to 100k crowns, it would cost me roughly $40-750.

That's incredibly generous of ZOS if they let people keep the items they bought with Crowns they didn't pay for.

I'm happy I didn't get those free crowns cos my conscious would not allow me to sleep at night. If I had gotten those crowns I would have placed a ticket in to inform zos about the crowns, knowing from the forums that it was a glitch I would not exploit zos.

I believe that what you do today has an impact on your future.

I feel empathy towards zos because that glitch has cost them money. It means many players that would have bought crowns to buy crates would not spend that money on crowns cos they exploited the free crowns.

I buy my crowns from zos store with real money, this supports zos aswell as my sub and money I spend on expansions. My real money supports the zos employees. They are real people with real families and real lives.

I do the same on PC NA -- sub + buy crowns to suppor the real people working to make a great game (despite the bugs...).
But really, crowns are too expensive at regular prices. >100 USD for an in game house??? They need to fix the value equation...

This is the same argument people tried to make with digital content in the way of music, movies and other stuff. It didn't fly then and it shouldn't fly now.
The people that took advantage and spent the crowns are getting off easy. The consequences could have been much harsher. I'm a bit surprised we haven't seen an official statement relating to penalties going forward should this happen again. There is the argument (flimsy in my opinion) that players simply thought it was a gift. If it happens again that argument won't be nearly as believable.

Honnestly the folks saying they thought it was a gift don't believe it..they are just justifying the spending of what was clearly an error and filling their boots.. if it happens again tomorrow they would do the same. Even after they read ZOS call it an exploit some still spent it.

Clearly no way would ZOS dish 100k+ crowns out without at least mentioning it, it's preposterous to even suggest it. But says alot about society today when stuffs apparently up for grabs..

Also on your last part apparently it has happened before, unsure on details but folks in Xbox zone chat were talking about it saying go wild, fill your boots as ZOS did nothing last time.

Anyhoo, Intruiged to see if it gets any further mention beyond this point..

The correct action from zos would be to track all the crowns they gave away, plus whatever they were spent on, and remove them from the players that had them. No punishment needed. It sounds like a lot of work to do that, but that's only the problem of zos. They created the problem, they should do a the work to fix it.

Even if we assume that many people spent it, it's better to ban them all because they will be dishonest in other ways.
The more people are allowed to exploit, the more the problem will grow later.

Assuming that a lot of people dishonestly spent the crowns, that's already a sign the issue of non-action on exploits is completely out of control.

I learned my lesson from this.
Spent 210 Euro during the last sale to get 63k crowns, and now see that many many others get 100k for free just with a verbal reminder?
    Pathetic...
This was the last time I used hard earned money to buy crowns, lesson learned.

Meanwhile they celebrate in chat, that they won and that ZOS would deserve the loss for the bad quality of the game...

Crowns do have actual monetary value, for everyone else who didn't receive those bugged crowns. More precisely, those who payed hard earned money for crowns.

They should ban accounts who spend almost all the bugged crowns(over 90%), and take back the crowns and crown bought stuff from those who only spend a little of it. Anything else would be a spit in the face of those who spend real money on the game.

If they aren't going to remove the crowns and the items they spent them on then they need to give everyone else the same number of crowns. It's like handing 100,000 dollars to three people in a crowded room and telling everyone else "oops they weren't supposed to be given that money but we're going to just let them keep it and no you're not getting any". Yeah, screw that.

I'm sure it's just a rumour. Sunday they said they'll investigate further from Monday on. There was also a statement somewhere that the crowns will be removed and negative balances set to zero (as a first step - then they'll look deeper into it). Now OP claims that they made up their minds and just let everyone keep the crowns and items?! I don't believe it, sorry.

I'm sorry, but if action isn't taken against the people who spent Crowns that clearly weren't theirs to spend, then it's a huge middle finger to the honest people amongst us who did the right thing by leaving them alone and contacting ZOS.
