Improve the reward for dungeon HM.

It happened again. In the meta, there is a new weapon from the dungeon. Staff of Medusa from Arx Corinium. I still remember farming the BRP staff inferno. I farm it for 4 days, almost without a break, until it dropped me from the chest. I almost cried when I picked it up. I remember farming Tzogwin's daggers. I picked up the first dagger on the fifth day of continuous farming. I had to redeem the second dagger for 1.5 kk from the party mate, eight days later.
I don't want to do this again, please. I don't want to spend my days farming in Arx Corinum. The transmutation system has been around for a long time, but getting the right weapon from the dungeon set is still a big problem.
I would like to see a drop system like in trials, where for completing a hard mod from the final boss one piece of jewelry and one piece of weapon dropped. I think this is a really well deserved reward that will make farming a lot easier.

    Roll a NB. Go chest farm. There are 10/28 chests available without killing a boss, which gives in average a bit above 1 chest per run, it is really relaxing tbh, 9 of them are lootable without combat at all.

    You could solo 2nd and 3rd boss to unlock all chest locations, but I don't like these, since most of them do require combat to loot.

    Weapon grinding has, and always will be the bane of ESO. With all of the options and traits and jewelry thrown in to the loot tables the chance of you getting what you want is really low.

    Getting the right weapon from the trials is very easy. After completing the hard mod, the group is guaranteed to receive 12 pieces of weapons. At the same time, after completing the dungeon, we have a chance to get jewelry instead of weapons.

    I did exactly 22 runs to get the inferno Medussa staff since yesterday. Every run had more or less 3 chests to loot and 1 boss that drops weapon. So in total we had 4 members x 4 drops per run (chests +boss) = 16 drops per run x 22 runs = 352 total drops.

    How many times did the inferno staff dropped? ZERO. 0/352 drops.

    Dont know If do sth wrong in my calculations but this is pure nightmare.

    I think it's easier to farm light Maw helm + light Maw shoulders and transmute them in divines to go with 2 heavy Medussa and 3 Jwlry than farm the dungeon till the inferno staff drops. Cause I don't think it's ever gonna drop.

    However, Medusa is not really meta guaranteed. It really depends on how much mileage you can get out of saving the slot for Channeled Acceleration. So before you live the last of your days in Arx and learn Parseltongue, maybe... don't. Chances are it's a wasted effort.

    I have no idea why they insist on BoP items. It's such an archaic MMO design with no benefit at all.

    With BoE, nothing of value is lost. The market (supply and demand) will ensure the prices on dungeon/trial/arena gear is very high, so now the players happy to farm it can amass a fortune for doing so, and the players who hate grinding can purchase the gear they want from cash made in whichever manner they prefer.

    It's one of those mind-numbingly dumb "this is how MMOs have always worked in the past, so we can't possibly change it" decisions.

    @gatekeeper13 your math is wrong friend, my experience shows me that chances are: 1/78 for last boss drop (50% jewelry then 1/3 for set then 1/13 for weapon) while chests feel like 1/117 (1/3 for weapon and not jewel/armor, 1/3 set, 1/13 correct weapon) so u should have dropped the weapon 4~ times, but rng is not consistent. That's why it is rng.

As for not having to have channeled acceleration on your bar...that is both rss saved and a bar slot opened, so I wouldn't downplay that advantage. That being said...if its BIS this patch you can be assured it will be nerfed next patch, so its probably still wasted effort.

    I had a friend stay in my group while offline so I could reset the dungeon. It should take you about 20 minutes to clear the dungeon and then you reset it. Rinse and repeat until your brain melts.
    I don't think Medusa gets nerfed soon. Mother's Sorrow would have come first, but it was untouched.

    ZOS should totally change the loot system for all veteran dungeons, players are scarce, you have to push players to do veteran dungeons and the only way is to improve the loot system, only in this way a player is tempted to do them with the main and with various alts.
    A good thing would also be to divide the dungeons into 300, 500 and 800 CPs, and not because the players with 800 CP are better but because the chances of finding a player able to complete for example a dlc vet dungeon are greater.

    I feel that beating a dungeon on hardmode should let you choose any random-traited set piece from there. It would lessen the grind, while still making sure that people have to run the content.

    This just reduces the pool of people eligible to queue for a dungeon, it would increase queue times. Lower CP are perfectly capable of completing DLC dungeons if they put forth the effort.

    Yes...people would have to run the content...once, then never again. This too would reduce the player pool, I dont enjoy grinding for gear any more than anyone else but I can see why they don't do this. Its easy enough to luck out and be carried once....its far more difficult to luck out and be carried 20 times.

    An good idea, guess that would work with anybody playing solo say questing, farming or getting skyshards.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.

    I feel that beating a dungeon on hardmode should let you choose any random-traited set piece from there. It would lessen the grind, while still making sure that people have to run the content.

    Well ... I got it. I got this yesterday, standing in the last normal queue before going to bed. Thanks to everyone who helped me. But alas, the problem is still there and will be, and I would like the players to pay more attention to this. There is no guarantee that in the next meta we will not have weapons from dungeon sets.

    thought when do dungeons reset? do you have any tricks to resetting them so you can get more chests?

    Not trying to downplay anyone’s efforts, but if you have PTS access, I might be worth your while to just grab the gear you need from the boxes they supply and parse both with that ideal setup and your current setup. You might find any gain you make, if any, is not worth the effort you need to put into getting it on live.

    Agree, now giving double reward in HM would make some sense.
    As its now its much better to farm in normal because faster runs.

    There are few ways to reset and they all include grouping, either port out (when in group) and quickly change vet to normal then to vet, or option n2, add someone to group quickly then exit group. Asking in guild for a questing person should be enough usually.

    You don't even need to be a nightblade...just run a vampire toon with the ring of the wild hunt(or whatever other speed set you choose) and pop some invis pots

    You know what we were doing before the Transmutation System right? We were also farming for right traits for every single item. They made this game as easier as they can in my opinion. For the other MMORPG games you need to kill 1000+ mobs to complete a single quest and go to new one but for ESO there is not too many challenging things to do beside Veteran Hard Mode Trials/Dungeons.
