When Sheogorath asks you to decide Valaste's fate, get a D20, and roll it. Even number means she stays, odd number means she goes to the Shivering Isles.

Enjoy.

For added fun, if you roll a natural 1 or a natural 20, You now have to roll a D12 with the same rules. If another natural 1/max-value is rolled, keep going down dice size until you hit your D4.

Ah, please. Much too complicated. It's easier if you just ask someone from you guild or friends list (or a random person) "Yes or no?" without further info. Works with all life decisions. (The result is not always perfect, but at least you have a result).

Other than that, I sometimes go by the current moon phase, but that only works at night, obviously, if you're too lazy to look at a calendar.

On a D20 if you roll a 15-20 take the points, 9-14 give up the points, 3-8 delete your character, 1-2 delete your account.

    :)

realistically she was wanted by a daedric lord, he'll get his way one way or another, figured him having her under his wing he'll give her a cozy place to do what she wants, get bored, move on and leave her in said cozy place like he does with every other spiteful addition to the shivvering isles.

he would have made her cozy because it would have annoyed sir nord mega mage but not really a mage angry.

i get 3 skill points, she gets freedom from her own stressful world and sheo is a happy uncle, everyone but nordy wins

This isn't actually anything to do with the skill line. You can reach Mage's Guild 10 quite easily without doing the quest line, as you only need to read lorebooks.

But to answer your question, if you choose one of the two options, you get two skill points. The thing is if you don't take the skill points option, you can never get those two skill points from any other source. These are the only two skill points that you can potentially be locked out of getting.

TBF, with all the skills now in the game, they are very useful. At launch they were not so vital.

save the damsel : reward = default 1 skill point story quest
help the Daedra lord : reward = 2 skill points or "half a dozen skyshards" + 1 skill point for finishing a story quest

Sorry; misspoke. I meant the quest-line. (I know you can level the skill-line by simply collecting lore books.)

People describe it so weirdly though, "sacrifice her" it sounds so evil as if she is sent for eternal torment. For me she looked very happy talking about butterflies with uncle Sheo.

It's part of the RPG aspect of the game. That "washing the dust of daily life off our souls" part.

I don't think of myself as a rper but for me it depends on my idea of the character's personality. My main, a Templar, saved her. My Vampblade sent her to the Isles. I have probably sent her with Uncle Sheo more than half of the times I have done that quest. She loves her uncle.

I'm roleplaying and my char didn't save her to be a good guy (he has killed more than enough people as an assassin), he genuinely liked her. And yes, you can like people without expecting any benefits from them.
