Scryed (pl?) for the Dwarven Rib-Frame in Bangkorai. Site showed up in very top, next to Jackdaw Cove. Once there, the eye directs me to a ledge I cannot possibly get to. If I abandon it and start again will I lose the lead? This is the first time this has happened.

Are you inside, where the quest area is?

Have you looked if that ledge is accessible from the other side? Or somehow from above, if there's a higher cliff next to it? (Sorry, I'm not sure how the location looks like, it's been a while).

@Nestor You mean the actual area it's telling me to search in? Or the Jackdaw area?

If you can't access from there, there's another way.
Sorry, I've already collected it but I can't remember exactly the path since I didn't do this lately.

I figured it out. I ran back and forth around that whole area with no luck, but there's this one tiny tricky ledge to jump up on right at the entrance to Jackdaw. I knew you could get up there because I could see a troll up there. Took multiple jumping tries to get up there.

I can't speak of that site, but I've had a couple of other sites that were indeed where the comet pointed to, although there were confusing issues with them.

One site, in Eyevea, was in a location that seemed unreachable, or the site didn't seem to be there when I got there. It turned out to be in the direction pointed to, but the only way to reach it was to swim out into the water-- which I'd been afraid to do, for fear of being eaten by slaughterfish-- to swim around a rocky cliff and get to a very small secluded beach.

The other site, in Hew's Bane, did not apoear to be where the comet pointed to, because it wasn't inside the excavation zone. After trying to aporoach the site from different angles to see if it made a difference, I gave up on staying within the excavation zone and just walked around in the general direction the comet had pointed in, even though I couldn't get any new directions because I wasn't allowed to use the scrying tool outside of an active dig area. Then I finally spotted what looked like a buried treasure mound, which got the sparkles around it once I got close enough. It was well outside the excavation zone, although it did lie in the direction that the comet was pointing to.

The moral of the story: Don't give up, keep trying to go in the direction the comet is pointing in, even if it means going outside of the excavation zone or having to go for a swim.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

hi friend. If you abandon, you just have to rescry. You don't lose the lead :)

You can access that ridge, requires a bit of jumping west of the tower iirc. Also had a dig there and took me a few minutes before I managed to find a path to jump up there.

Sorry for the necro, but just ran into this myself. Could not for the life of me get up there on my horse. Once I put away the mount, though, I could jump up the ramp-looking rock right next to the gate & tower. So if you find this and you can't get up there at that spot, make sure you're not on a mount.

Every time I've thought a dig site is inaccessible, it hasn't been true. You probably need to approach it from a different direction or jump at the right time and from the right angle. At least that's been my experience.

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in August 2020. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.

    Thank you for your understanding.
