"idk some people are terrible"

I try not to do it, but every once in a while I call someone out for being a self-indulgent jerk in zone chat somewhere. Same thing every time. You'd think I was trying to start WWIII. Why can't some people observe a modicum of decency in a MMO? They hide behind their Internet anonymity and say things they wouldn't dare to say to someone in public.

In response to this, a guildie said "idk some people are terrible." That's for sure. I just wish they'd keep it to themselves while I'm trying to enjoy a game.

Your guildie is right, people suck. If you don't want them to engage with you, don't engage with them.

You can send a screenshot of zone chat to ZOS Support and that may end up getting the person at least a Comm ban and worse an account suspension.

You might be surprised what people will say to others in public.

Just right click their name and select ignore. Problem solved. ^^

I used to respond with something along the lines of <insert name here> must have found the key to his/her parents liquor cabinet and watch the fireworks. Now I am quick on the ignore button. No need to fuel a fire even if I think it is funny because others are in the zone and probably don't want to see it.

There are certainly jerks running aroud, I agree with that. But then, people also have a tendency to be offended by litterally EVERYTING these days. They can not take a straight word anymore, they can not take a banter, a joke, a pun.

it is just like real life. You're gonna run into people who's parents just really messed things up for them. Just gotta feel sorry for the socially and ethically handicapped and hit the block button.

Assuming you are referring to people cherry picking nodes and chests, I too will call em out in zone chat from time to time and usually a chorus of agreement greets me... other than that, seldom engage unless i'm up for some verbal volleyball xD

First, I feel pity for them, as I think that if you've got a good and satisfying life, you wouldn't have to pester strangers on the internet. Then I put them on my ignore list. It's simple.

I was once momentarily distracted by what I felt was an especially juvenile and raunchy zone chat, and was thinking to myself about how sadly disgusting some pubescent boys can be. Then the guy who was being the most juvenile made a comment to the other guy that he was in his mid-30s! Talk about how some guys' brains never make it out of the junior high locker room.

Try making your home in a zone that has a vampire and werewolf shrine....

    Everyday ALL day.......

    "Selling vamp/werewolf bite"

    Three, two, one......

"Bites are free!" or "Only scammers sell bites"

Literally EVERDAY, all day, it's so sad it's funny!! >:)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Some people don’t know how to play well with others. Which boggles me as this is an mmo, you are going to have to interact with others now and again.

The reason is because no one has to conform to what you or others want. If you don't like it, train your brain to terminate and block out what you don't like. Or ask ZOS to police the game the same way they do on the forums.

When that happens, expect an empty game though kind of like how these forums are becoming.

People aren't offending by puns. They're offended by treating others with disrespect for no reason.

The most fragile is the ones who think they should be allowed to say whatever they want with no consequences.

Yeah, sometimes, people can get a bit silly.
I don't think they mean harm, most of the time. I guess they're just feeling isolated and are just trying to attract any attention, to feel like they matter a bit. I try to be understanding, when I stumble upon one, and I promptly ignore them if they go too far.
    It's a bit sad, really.

Even if they're just attention seeking stupid kids, they're still annoying. Normally, putting them on the ignore list is enough, but on the other hand I think that players have the right not to be molested with (among others) misogyny or (real life) racism in the game. Some things exceed the limit of "edgy blabbering".

I agree with you. I can tolerate boasting and pretention, but misogyny, racism and the likes is usually when I put them in the "went too far" box trash can.
