    VorpX

It’s 35 quid but allows you to play eso in full immersive mode.

I can’t describe how unreal it is. I’m dodging my real life head and side stepping as Imps shoot fireballs at me

Also it’s so neat for just peering round corners!

I'd never be able to handle that - RL vertigo and that sort of thing don't go together well, or at all really! I can't even watch movies on a big screen any more.... throw in a curved one, and that's a guaranteed disaster with me being sick all over everyone else.

It’s a bit of a mind screw at first but once you get used to it it’s fine.

Elite dangerous is way worse for depth perception

How do other VR headsets compare to Oculus?
    I won't buy anything from a Facebook-owned company.

You know ED is not going to have VR support in the expansion next year?

Not natively but it will run in vorpX

The general top of the range is the Valve Index but it does cost twice as much as the rift. For that money you get higher resolution, faster refresh (important for VR shooters and other fast moving games) and better controllers. The index does require a more powerful PC however.

There's also the HTC Vive which sits between Rift and Index in terms of graphics quality (and price)

Most games will work on any of those, although, Oculus does have the occasional exclusive, but if you google hard enough there are ways around that.

If your budget can stretch and you have a PC that can handle it, you should certainly go for the Valve Index.

I looked at the supported games list and ED is not there. Am I missing something? Genuine question as I'd like to forward this information to the forums for that game.

It’s just a case of running the desktop and then allowing the exe in the inclusion lists. You need to make changes the immersive settings as well (caveat that works now , not sure about a years time and not with the new planned upgrade)

At the moment there’s no need to do this as it’s got native support but IF they drop support in ED (it’s still and IF) then this is a Workaround

Tried it last night and it’s fine lol

Fair. Thank you for the information. I've not once seen VorpX mentioned there and given I have like, 24k posts on that forum, I would be more likely than most to know if it were.

I've tried ESO with a HP Reverb headset and VorpX and was very disappointed. I picked the Reverb for its high resolution ( 2160 x 2160 per eye) but the image was still grainy as hell and that's not counting the broken shaders.

If you're interested in the stereoscopic part (as well you might in a 3rd person game) then Nvidia 3D vision is superior by the proverbial mile. Unfortunately, Nvidia is no longer supporting 3D vision, so it is questionable how long we'll be able to continue using it. VR headsets won't be a viable replacement anytime soon though (if ever).
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

I tried it 1-2 years ago.

Can't remember what the caveats were but in the end, it wasn't super worth it.

It probably is fun for the ultra casual but endgame PvE requires you to focus on your gameplay at which point performance is more important than how the game looks.

Hmm what settings did you have it on? I'm guessing you'd have to turn off the chat and all hud sort of things for this to work cause for me things like the text I couldn't read so was pointless even having that and just made it feel weird.

    Just a fun fact...
Did you know Zenimax Media won a $500 million dollar lawsuit with Facebook over the Oculus VR?
Apparently the software was originally property of Zenimax.
    Just fun trivia...

Did Facebook even originally own Oculus? I thought they just bought it out but I'd have to double check.

No. As far as my understanding the lawsuit was because FB tried to expand on their VR headset technology at the time when occulus owned the patented rights
