Interesting mechanics that people usually don't know/follow

It is supposed to be a fun thread (for me it was a bit nostalgic to run vFL with low dmg dds today in my pug)

So, I will start, vFL, if you don't kill revivlifiers fast enough they enrage all adds.

The lever mechanics for the Engine Guardian's poison phase in Darkshade 2. It's just easier to stack on the healer.

Though when I'm PUGing it, the Planar Inhibitor from WGT usually requires a reminder that "Hey, someone needs to hit the pinion before the tank dies, please."

I only recently found out that you can take the BC2 Daedroth to the fire trap and let it take damage from that (Seemed a bit tricky to do properly, but did a lot of damage). So there's that.

Also most of the mechanics on poor Rakkhat! Many people never get to see Lunar Phase unless they're going for the achievement.

LoL. Even on vet, I beg people not to touch it while I am tanking. My tank can handle it with just an occasional heal from the healer. Knowing the mechanics and when to pop shields, and when running the boss in a circle is a great strategy comes in handy. So PLEASE do no touch it!

This one is new to me! Here have a fun fact instead, vDoM last boss, during his spinny attack, if you move along the edges of the aoe (just outside of it) you can keep boss in place while taking no damage! (Tank mechanics)

Last boss, second phase of DoM, you can actually avoid damage from jesus beam if you move a great distance from the boss.

Unless my friends and I going for No Death achievements, we just kill our party member because its quicker that way...of course, its a lot funnier when we're all in voice comms. :)

If you time right jumping on the broken pillar u can stop the boss from the beam fire.

This is incase of tank dies and boss tries to kill DDs/healer.

Another mechanic is, there are 3 spots on the edge of the map in second phase, 1 for tank, 1 for healer and 1 for DDs, if you stand correctly on these spots, the aururans will not be able to reach you.

There are spots like that all over the map, one of them let's tank toll back into stone the heavy attacks. It is very comfy.

On a night my regular dungeon group was only 3 the GF paired us with a high CP pug that did not know how to interrupt. Understand this was a melee stamina DPS player that specifically stated they did not have an interrupt.

    /facepalm

Back in the day, there were fights that if one did not interrupt the fight was more challenging. Heck, NPC healers used to be strong healers.

Fun fact if you do enough damage fast enough you can kill the ghost before it does this mechanic but if your DPS is anywhere near that and you miss the check someone gonna die 😂. Real talk though this is the #1 thing that stops no deaths in this dungeon followed closely by people jumping to far on the second water drop down.

Ahh Lunar Phase, Kids these days have no idea what they are missing with their pad 2 nukes.

I usually run 4 man stuff with pretty high DPS, which means you just don't see a lot of mechanics. First time I leveled undaunted on a tank via groupfinder a few years back, I realized how poor my understanding of specific boss mechanics actually was in this game.

I remember the first time I tanked Blackheart, there is one of the mini bosses that needs to be interrupted or she will one shot people. Thought I was doing great, keeping it taunted and standing perfeclty still. Then I realize my whole group was dead.

I had a similar experience first time I tanked Selenes Web, only that time, i was the one on the floor. That bear hurts! Apparently he did not get the memo that Bears are supposed to stick together.

Recently, and this made me feel like I had just installed the game, I was doing some VMA thrassian runs. I kept getting wrecked on the ice rounds with all the ranged adds. Normally I just shield and eat the damage, but that wasnt cutting it with the debuffs. I realized I just needed to dodge roll one time and you basically take no damage for two seconds. Of course, been dodge rolling for years, but it just didnt click how powerful of a mitigation tool it actually can be in a situation like that.

When the last boss in Wayrest Sewers 1 does her leap/ambush, the damage you take goes up the farther you are from her. If you stay in melee range it's basically insignificant.

I probably ran Wayrest Sewers 50 times before someone pointed it out (because someone in our group kept getting one-shotted). Prior to that I just made sure to eat pure HP food for that fight (you can also block).

First boss, Darkshade 1: if everyone fights him entirely from range, he will never move.

What? The first boss is that little Head Shepherd Neloren who used to be tough a long time ago when she had two buddies to heal her, but now she is a walk in the park.

    Do you mean Foreman Llothan?

Oh man...took our group quite a while to figure that one out.

They fixed it? Aaaa what a shame...

Here have another piece of information, during LoM last boss you can make Maarselok jump on non pads pretty consistently by standing under his right wing (left from your side) and then the second wing to bring him back to his original place. it is very calm and safe for tank to do it that way, so much that dds can join him there, since the dragon can't charge backwards.
