Naturally, the game revolves around combat and you killing things to progress. While it's a great relief to send abominations or other players to Oblivion (or Aetherius etc), I sometimes feel like kicking back and doing something peaceful that doesn't require keyboard mash or rotations.
I know others feel the same way, as many players play only solo or in social/RP guilds. Others just play ESO to relax and collect flowers.
I have developed a less combat-oriented playstyle, often doing things that require minimal/no fighting and just help me relax. This makes ESO a great escape from a stressful offline lifestyle. I wanna share my ideas as well as get new ones from other players. Some ideas for a peaceful playstyle:
- Crafting, in your favorite town or visiting remote crafting stations.
- Material farming and related traveling - while avoiding enemies. The DB passive for reduced enemy aggression while riding helps.
- Simple riding and traveling in your favorite zone. Fully trained mount and the aforementioned DB passive help.
- Hunting collectibles (books, lorebooks, skyshards, scrying, dlc collectibles).
- Some quests are story-oriented and require minimal combat, though you can't know in advance whether you'll end up having a hoard of daedra or undead - which you normally do.
- Role-playing, solo or in groups.
- Afk'ing in a beautiful zone with nice music while doing something else irl. (Auridon!)
- Inventory and bank management minigame.
- Talking to NPCs and pretending you care about their problems or thoughts.
- Designing or dying outfits, costumes, hats, etc. or farming the required motifs.
- Trading, selling or buying useful items. This makes you travel around Tamriel to visit specialised shops or guild traders, which many people complain about but it also makes you revisit beautiful and long-forgotten zones.
- Fishing - not big on this one, but will give it a go eventually
- Housing - buying, crafting, decorating, or just afk'ing and rp'ing
- Being a healer. You can make a living in ESO with very few offensive skills, esp if you're a healer. So even when you do fight, you can focus on buffing and healing allies while not stressing about pushing your DPS.
- Character customisation, like appearance or race change, etc. I spend hours trying to design a character. Deciding on a name takes days and rename tokens. Restartitis is related to this!
- Pets - combat or non combat. Show your pets some love.
- Deciding, trying, or researching about your build.
- Plot twist: Even stealing and murdering! If you're good, you won't get caught and you won't need to ever fight. No need to even leave town. Just steal, kill, and fence. You'd be an immoral criminal though

What do you guys do to relax in ESO?
