Can Harrowstorms please be marked on the map somehow?

It's not that they don't spawn fast enough, it's that there is no order, and 6 sites that are rather spread out to check to find the active one. Yes, I know zone usually calls them, sometimes, maybe... but just had the pleasure of people purposely misleading zone chat for an hour!

"X IS UP"
"NO ITS NOT"

I'm not about to port around Blackreach trying to figure out which one of those two was correct. So please devs, can you make the active Harrowstorm site glow red or something? Or at least make a pattern? or an API call so someone can make an addon? As if trolls parking their bears on top of crafting stations wasn't bad enough, now they had the idea to mis-call harrowstorms. Joy.

Harrowstorms are world events, @CaffeinatedMayhem ... not an loot train that players can just put on auto-pilot.

They don’t put active markers on dolmens and geysers. Same for Harrowstorms.

Dragons aren’t fixed locations on the map, @CowNRB.

    Hence the active markers.

And Geysers and Dolmens follow a fixed pattern while Dragons and Harrowstorms do not. They both have random landing sites. Harrowstorms should have markers.

    Nope.

If you look on your map Dolmens, Geysers, and Harrowstorms all have a fixed “discoverable” location on the map.

Dragons cannot be discovered as a fixed point on the map.

[snip] I classify Harrowstorms as clsoer to dragons, except with dragons you can wait in one location and it is guaranteed to spawn within a reasonable amount of time.
With Harrowstorms... I've seen locations be skipped for an hour or more. And there is no pattern. So while I'm sure YOU love riding around Western Skyrim and Blackreach trying to find the active harrowstorm and missing 5/6, some of us would like a little more reasonable day.

It doesn't matter that you can discover the location. They could make a dragon nest discoverable too. It would not have been difficult.

The reason they made the map marker the way they did is because dragons land randomly. And Harrowstorms also land randomly. That's the part that is important for players. The actual gameplay mechanics, not the UI.

You only need the achievement clear once per site.

So, we’re not talking a huge time commitment here ... except for players chasing after loot (which I explained above).

Nobody is doing Harrowstorms for the loot. What loot is there to speal of? I agree with the OP that an activity marker would be very helpful.

Other than the geysers in summerset, which most can not be seen from a wayshrine and need to be activated to be seen from further away, harrowstorms are easy to see from far away and from the wayshrines by porting around a bit. Much better than the chasing of geysers in summerset except for those underground.

Dolmens are fairly predicable, Harrowstorms are not.

Dragons you'll get by waiting in one random spot much sooner than Harrowstorms (on average).

Even with the 1 Harrowstorm completion for quest change they are still a massive pain comparatively.

What about achievement for dailies? And dailies themselves while we are at it? They are supposed to start dropping motif pages at some point so there will be farming.

I can get why you may not need any indication yourself, but why are you trying so actively prohibit the idea? Or is it arguing for the sake of arguing?

They may be more akin to dolmens and geysers, than dragons, but they're still a pain to travel to (and a pain in general), so having something like a red small tornado sumbol on the map when they're active, would be a nice addition.

You can stand in one spot waiting for dolmens, geysers, and dragons to spawn and they spawn fairly quickly. If you stand at a harrowstorm and wait for it to spawn, you will grow old waiting. I'm already old and don't have time to wait. :p A marker on the map would be a nice addition.

Yeah they kinda are. They land in one of four place within three (two for SE) very narrow areas, they could just make a storm appear above their location that could be seen from a distance like with HS and geysers.

I just wish I knew what the purpose of harrowstorms were. While narratively I understand them, from a gameplay perspective they make little sense.

They are large event group fights, but the designers seem determined to make them as undesirable to do as possible. Random locations, difficult to get to, and rewards that at best are minor compared to geysers and dragons.

It’s like they are purposely sabotaging their own game. Making the fights difficult for small groups, discouraging large groups, and on top of that unrewarding is just a recipe for disaster.

They are intended for players to loot. The difficulty should be in the actual gameplay mechanics, not a clunky UI that players bypass using zone chat. Riding to another location isn't some kind of added difficulty, it is just literal completely mindless time wasting.

i once waited for hours for a Harrowstorm to show. Literally hours.

please yes. Relying on people to say in chat what's up is unreliable. I'm usually the one sayin whats up. Have the icon turn red when it's up. Or have a warning come up on the screen. "The Skyrim weather service has issued a harrowstorm warning for Giants coast. Take cover"
