Uneven offerings of HOMES

I think what frustrates me most about housing (and there are soooo many things...) is how uneven the offerings are. I am genuinely only interested in 24 player homes and yet here's what we have:

Daggerfall Overlook: Breton

Ebonheart Chateau: Dunmer

Tel Galen Tower: Dunmer

Princely Dawnlight Palace: Redguard

Linchal Grand Manor: Imperial

Grand Psijic Villa: Altmer

Lakemire Xanmeer Manor: Argonian

Grand Topal Island: Argonian

Jode’s Embrace: Khajit

Potentate’s Retreat: Khajit

Serenity Falls Estate: Khajiit

The above are all of the 24 player homes that are actually homes. Not a mead hall, not a town, not a cave, not a fighting arena, not a dungeon knock off, not some bizarre conglomeration of rooms that make no sense. And of those, only Daggerfall Overlook, Ebonheart Chateau, and Serenity Falls Estate are available year round. While the Khajit get three homes and the Dunmer and Argonians get two, The Bretons, Redguards, and Imperials all only get one. Oh and the Nords and Orcs and Bosmer are just out of luck entirely.

Greymoor represents a huge missed opportunity. We got a TON of housing with Elsweyr, most of it actual homes. But with Greymoor we get a weird collection of rooms underground for vampires, a small plot of land that is mostly frozen lake with a Dwemer ruin, a big ol cabin that is definitely NOT a home and will require extensive retrofitting to make it one, eating up precious item slots, and only the weird vampire thing and Dwemer ruin/frozen lake being 24 player spaces. May I just ask where the hades is the Nord castle modeled on the Blue Palace? May I ask where the hades are the castle sized HOMES for the Nords, Orcs and Bosmer?

Please ZOS, up your game. Make castles/mansions/villas/estates for ALL of the races and put them in housing as PERMANENT offerings. And for the love of the Divines, give me a castle at least based on the Blue Palace!

I think this list only shows that Housing is very subjective and things won't please everybody.

For example I don't think that the Grand Psijic Villa, Lakemire Xanmeer, Grand Topal, and Potentate's Retreat are 'actual homes' at all, let alone the only ones. They have far too few actual rooms, or are just spread too far apart to be considered a 'home' - in the way that Alinor Crest, Cliffshade, Lucky Cat Landing, etc, which are available all year around. It's unfortunate that you're only looking at the Manors, because a lot of the Large and Medium houses are far more home-like, in my opinion.

On the topic of variety, Elsweyr was special because it was the first time they dedicated a whole year to the region, and Khajiit already had a style included in the base game. So the larger number of Khajiit homes is due to that. However, I think Greymoor is similar in release to last year. Elsweyr had: Inn Room, large wood mansion, and cut-into-pieces Hall; then open-build meadow and necromancer house; then medium house and large stone mansion. Greymoor so far has: Inn Room, large stone house, vampire house; free-build Dwemer icelake and large wood cabin; and ... ... TBA in Q4.

I 100% agree that some houses are very niche, but I also wouldn't want them to make the houses too samey like they did with 3/4s of the year with Elsweyr. Not every race has to have an 'actual home' style home castle in all sizes including 24. Pariah's Pinnacle I think is very fitting for Orcs and Forsaken Stronghold while smaller fulfils the Orc home niche already; and the Xanmeer fits Argonians too, even if it's more a ruin than a home, and Grand Topal more like a village than a house.

So the variety of large houses they release is actually really nice I think, than just doing the same 'homey home house' in small, medium large and manor sizes (which is what they did at launch and why many houses look repetitive).

I'd be perfectly fine with all the other "homes/not homes" they do IF they'd do actual castle type places where people would actually live in equal proportion. I do think every race needs a 24 player home.

Considering some of those homes are from zones added to the game since housing started it would make sense that they would skew the offerings.

Beyond that, I do not think Zos did one house of each size for each of the nine base game alliances. It probably would not make sense to have done that.dddda

I wish they would make a 2 person capacity garden shed house. Like 10x10 size. could call it Cadwells Fool shed.

It would seem the interest in this subject would answer that question.

There is Pariah's Pinnacle and Hakkvilds High Hall for orc and nord respectively that are 24 limit homes.
Bosmers are the only ones I think that get the short end of the stick unless I overlooked something. Imperials pretty much go wherever they want.
I think Earthtear Cavern would make a nice traditional Bosmer home if you threw in lots of trees and greenery. Probably some of the others too but it would be nice if they had some Bosmer paradise.

I think you could make this, I've seen a lot of homes or additions to homes like you described built in various houses. You can close off the rest of the house so that you don't see it if you want.

Why is, for example, the Velothi Reverie not a home? It's a 2-story building with 4 rooms, plus cellar and garden. Not everyone lives in a huge palace.

Even if you look at the Snugpod: It's unusual if you compare it with rl homes, but for Bosmer it's completely normal, I guess.

I agree with you though, that there should be a big mansion type building available for each racial style.

Clever. But misses the point. A lack of interest is very likely more indicative that the playerbase has largely given up on being listened to when it comes to player housing. Regardless, that doesn't change the fact that yes, each race very well should have a player house that is actually a dwelling in all of the available sizes. When it comes to the 24 player sized homes, we're really still lacking quite a lot and getting way too many things no one asked for.
