Why can't I make a zoo when it means more Crown Store purchases?

It would be nice if we could put down more than ten Special Collectibles especially in the Notable housing. The Banker, Merchant and Smuggler take up three slots or almost 30% of the Special Collectibles allocation. This limitation makes buying more junk less interesting. It makes no sense that I can't make a zoo when it means buying more from the crown store and more income for ZOS or Bethesda or whoever. Most everywhere else they game is optimized to make money. I want to make my Moonsugar Meadow an arboretum and zoo!

Housing item limitations are currently ridiculous which is mainly why I am not really into housing.

Creativity is totally hamstrung. Imagine trying to decorate a large home? I haven't even attempted to use my Psijic Villa let alone actually BUY any of these overpriced luxury homes for this very reason.

Hey, wouldn't it be nice if we could get a ball that is intractable and play kick ball? I won't call it football or soccer but the moonsugar meadow is perfect. There could be two 6 peep teams!

They have explained many times why there is a furniture limit and why the collectibles are treated separate from other furnishings. Raising the limits would cause performance issues.

You are correct that if we were allowed more slots for collectibles it would translate to more money for ZoS. Knowing that you also know if they thought they could give us more slots without impacting the game in a negative way they would. If it were something that could easily be done it would be done.

I understand why they can't increase the limit, and know it's there for a reason. I'm fine with that. What bothers me though is the categories, which considering they can't increase the item slots, would be better than nothing if they removed them to help with the slots. Just make it all or most of it "traditional furnishings" or whichever, so we can decide if we want 30 pets/mount/assistants or not.

If their was ever a good reason for them to upgrade their servers this would be it.

I'm convinced the caps are instituted the way that they are to make you feel pressed to purchase more houses.

What ZOS' reasonings are we can't know for sure.

But 1 reason they have given is to keep the min. reqs. down.

Why 10 Special? Because ZOS arbitrarily decided that 10 was enough.

Why? its an instance with no combat outside of duels and no loot granted you can craft.
Server side they could store an house as an blob, Item id, x,y,z and the 3 rotation axes, activated flag.
Pretty sure delves has more items in them than houses, they also has enemies and are not instances.

For client performance well 300 detailed items like trees and 300 lights will be much harder to handle than 600 books or stone blocks. Also client performance is your own problem.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

As well as a zoo, I wish we could purchase more than one of the same non-combat pet. I really want a herd of Vale Fawns frolicking around my Cold Harbour home, but you are limited to purchasing only one. Sigh.

I understand the reason for the overall limits, but I would love to see the team reevaluate the nontraditional categories. Maybe there is room for adjusting the limits on some of them. I never use pets out in the world, but even without pathing I love them as finishing touches that bring more character and life to housing.

Please let us make zoos, farms, forests with wildlife, etc a reality. We aren't talking about hundreds of pets in one room, but surely they could look at changing the Special Collectibles category from say 10 to 20?

Perhaps house guests could be moved into the "Special Furnishings" category (as opposed the the Special Collectibles category that is shared with pets and assistants). Reasonable adjustments should be considered.

This was explained long ago in a thread in the housing forum. The gist of it is all those things you see in a dungeon are not individual items. Each item in your house has to be referenced in relation to every other item in your house. You see a table, four chairs, four cups, six plates, and 10 assorted other items in a dungeon the server sees one item. If one moves they all move. In your house that is 25 items. Delves are instanced. We see a loading screen when we enter them. If all those items were treated like housing items the loading screens would be much longer than they are now.
Because you can move all those items independent of each other the server treats them much different.

The other thread explains it much better than I have.

Now I get that the game can treat an dungeon as one object, outside of stuff you can interact with. books, bookshelf, chairs and anything loo able and why this don't work in houses. Still its an client problem, not an server one.

I get the logic of the statement and I assume it to be true, but if this is true, why was Cyrodiil allowed to evolve to the point where it causes massive performance issues? They can't possibly add more furnishings due to performance concerns, but that never stopped them from adding to the game in ways that negatively affected pvp. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'd like to see them stay consistent with their priorities. It's a bit hypocritical for ZOS to cite performance concerns for housing while Cyrodiil works the way it does currently.

I never bought a house with money just because 10 mounts is not enough (got 220 mounts 20 radiants apex)
