There is this tickle-proof player ...

Today I met this super resistant player in Cyrodiil, [snip] :)

I would like to know at least a little how somebody can be attacked by at least 10 players and resist almost infinitely even powerful ultimates. I noted that he wasn't great at attack, so I think it might be a tank build ... is there anybody who could give me a hint, please?

Typically we don't include player names in posts here on the forums but there is a good chance he's built himself for 1vX. One way this is accomplished is by constantly moving and healing, and I've actually been able to do this myself but I'm not skilled enough to keep it up for long. In essence what that player is doing is making his enemies string themselves out in a line.

If you've ever played a real time Strategy game you've probably seen this happen where as when units round a corner they squish themselves into a single file line as they cannot occupy the same space as another unit. In ESO we don't have that issue but humans love having personal space and so try to separate themselves out regardless. We also have the fact some people move faster than others due to speed buffs being used.

This all being said what ends up happening is that single player creates a scenario where they only have to fight one or two players at a time. It might look like they're fighting 10+ people but its an illusion and they're really not fighting all those people at once. If their next target is weak they'll die in a couple seconds fueling their next burst since killing players awards ultimate if you have the Alliance War passive.

Best way to counter them is to be smart and try to find shortcuts to get ahead of the group and stun the person. The closer you bring that group to them the smaller their chances become at pulling this 1vX off.

There's a ton of ways to build as a tank, especially if you don't want to be able to kill someone at the same time.

    Yes

From my experience, there are 2 kinds of players which fit the OP's description:

    1. The actually good 1vXers. Those who will quickly blow up anyone foolish enough to follow them into a tower or some other chokepoint.

    2. Obnoxious high speed, no damage tanks who just run very fast in circles around a rock or tower, and rarely (or even never) attempt to kill any of their pursuers.
Because they are so fast, and never slow down to try and hit anyone, they are very difficult to hit due to the game's broken targeting.

In both of those cases, instead of relying on stacking armor values and % mitigation, much of their tankiness comes from high to insane mobility - which makes a lot of the pursuers' attacks miss, due to high speed combined with line of sight shenanigans.

Actually, the player was sitting in an angle or seemingly not caring at all, which made him so attractive to fight :D

Because the game isn't balanced. You think that's op? Wait until the AoE tests start for a real show...I will only log then to spread misery with broken builds.

There are various tank builds that can be almost unkillable. Conversely, they do no damage. They are very good for building up your ultimate (we call them ulti-gen players) and for recovering resources by heavy attack.

You will notice that if you stand next to them you will take almost no damage.

There is one way to help kill them if you feel like it.

You simply bash them about 25 times. Bash is much faster than most skills. If you bash them, they can't heal and they will die much more quickly. Surprisingly this is almost never done: tons of players gather around them and try to kill them by simply attacking.

But eventually you recognize their names and just run around them to get to a real fight
2 GOs, an overlord and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP

I find a well timed gank burst with a bow ulti can often sort these freaks out... this combined with the already high amount of damage they are taking from the "pack", can bring the hurt in a most satisfying way.

The key is to time it right, so that they are at say half health, which tends to happen periodically as the pack chase and attack them... without a big burst of damage at that point, they just buff up and heal and continue 1vxing... but add a well timed, high damage burst, & it can seriously mess with their chi. Extremely satisfying when it works.

Thank you, this was the most insightful comment so far. You are saying that essentially I focus on getting gear and skills which boost ultimates, and then I choose an ultimate which keeps filling the health and/or resistance. I'll give it a try, just for curiosity.

There's a lot of misinformation in that comment. You can still heal if you get bashed and bash has a cooldown of 1 second, just as skills have their own cooldown. So you can't bash any faster than you can cast skills despite bash having a shorter animation.
