Why is MMR still so bad? Why does it even still exist?

I have several toons I pvp on but my magden will always be my favorite and nearest and dearest to my heart. Unfortunately, that means in order to play on him I have to wait through the longest, most oppressive queue times to do so. I'm sitting here having been queued for half an hour for a random, after having had great 3-4 minute queue times on a toon I've rarely played since the mmr reset. I just don't understand why it's necessary to punish people for playing on their favorite toons. The queue is already solo. What good does the mmr do at this point, besides force us to sit and wait? I don't want to just bg on my other toons either because eventually they'll reach the same point. Scrap the mmr Zos. It's broken.
