My rant and frustration in playing this game

Have got to admit, after watching those videos that were posted in the forum in the last few days as well as looking on youtube and watching other similar videos

I can't believe how many people can.. or will be cheating in this game because ZOS hasn't got the balls to do anything about it, I mostly play PVP and am a very average player compared to most. I always used to played in Grey Host until recently because lag there is so bad that its just unplayable. No skills going off, skill bar grays out when playing certain players, can't breakfree or dodge roll can't hit other players because they dodge everything thrown at them. immune to every cc on every class I now play, they can even run through keep doors instantly while I have to wait for my butler to come and open the friggin door to let me in.

I mostly put the above down to lag, server problems. Some will say that its my computer couldn't keep up. Well I did upgrade my computer a few months ago because even though my computer was a few years old at the time it still had a Intel I7 and it did play the game.

I decided to upgrade so bought a I9 gaming rig. Went to Alcasts page and done the "Increase Performance In Elder Scrolls Online" which I now have between 200 and 240fps in PVE.

PVP is [snip], no other word for it. I get about 3 hours a day if i'm lucky to play can't imagine how it is for others that play longer as it so frustrating even for me. Hell I'm even getting 10-15 load screens running from DC to Bruma on my own no other players anywhere around that I can see. If there is an enemy player there I'm dead, why you may ask? Its cos I'm in a friggin load screen.

Been reading what ZOS is going to do with the servers from next update. To be honest I don't think that is going to solve anything major, even though I hope it will.

What I would like to see is all addons, championship points, any and all access to any part of this game that can be altered/manipulated by us the players be disabled completely. Last time the champion points were disabled in PVP it was surprising how many of the unkillable were killable the Best of the best seem to have decided to take a holiday for the duration of that test.

I for one would prefer to play a honest game with honest players. If I die so what I rez and come back out and try to improve and beat a better player. Can't see the point in buying a game and then cheat, where is the accomplishment in that?

To all the cheaters out there, try switching your cheat engine off and come and play an honest game. Join a guild make some friends and most importantly have some clean honest fun, its a game its suppose to be fun. You may struggle for a bit but when you do start killing those players that used to kill you will enjoy the game a whole lot more knowing you done it all yourself and not a bloody cheat engine spoiling your enjoyment and ours.

To the honest players out there I thank you. To the cheaters all I can say SHAME ON YOU.

If you want to disable CP why not just play No-CP campaigns when you PvP? (that's what I do)

Other than that, I agree with you about all the addons, cheats and macros and everything else in-between. I would prefer games not to allow any of that outside crap to come in either.

Addons aren't cheating though, nor are CPs. Got to be honest here, your complaint is coming across like this: "I keep getting beat in PvP so it can't be me being outplayed it has to be them cheating".

Been here since beta, have maxed out champion points along time ago, my friends and guildies play in grey host. thats why I don't go no CP

I get my fair share of kills a night lol. About 100-150 against 20 deaths or so. Honestly like I said I am a average player and just play a few hours but I do know when to look at my death recap screen and when seeing 4 Dizzy swings and an execute while in a dodge roll and know when something is questionable. Now if I was standing still and leaving the player hit me then ok could see how this could happen. but being full health 1 sec and already in a dodge roll and dead before I even come out of it? yea right, guess I'm being outplayed..

ESO is probably the only game where supposedly legitimate gameplay can look like cheating because the devs have no control over their game design. That's basically the reason for the upcoming AoE test in Cyrodiil. Rich Lambert said it in his post: Players are playing the game outside what was intended.
Worse, they saw it happening and they allowed it. Until now when the problem is so bad they can't ignore it anymore.

It's basically the same with their customer service. So many posts (many of which get deleted) where customer service just talks nonsense in reply to your ticket. You think ZOS doesn't know? They are just doing what they did with the combat system -- stick their head in the sand. When enough people start taking their money elsewhere then they'll do something about it.

When gameplay can look like cheating, how do you even spot those who are cheating?

    Don't be disingenuous.
There's a difference between "not intended, but allowed", "not intended, was allowed, now we changed our minds", and "neither intended, nor allowed".

Animation canceling and light attack weaving are in the first category.
AOE spam is in the first category now, and moving into the second category as ZOS makes changes.
Cheating is the third. Its against the TOS and punished with disciplinary action.

    How do you recognize cheating?
Well, you know how to play the game as ZOS allows, based off what they've said, allowed, or punished in the past. Then you can recognize when someone is outside the bounds of what ZOS allows.

Or if that's too hard for you, report them all and let ZOS sort it out.

Sounds like you should move over to no CP. Addons aren’t going anywhere unless ZoS changes the API again which would only limit certain functions. Macros? Just smh.

It’s not the animation canceling or the macros that drive me crazy it is the Hacks. They have been prevalent in the game since the beginning and always will be there. It feels like ground hog day seeing the recent videos. It happens a couple times a year til they put a bandaid on it. A year ago there was a WW running around IC one shotting players and district bosses. I followed them around and Recorded them taking out 6 in a row. “One shot One Kill” I then let them attack me and recorded it with death recap. Needless to say ZOS quickly took care of it and perma banned the People using the Hacks. There will be people that state it is a learn to play issue until they are blue in the face. But hacks exist and for every major exploit there are minor hacks that are done you may not be able to easily perceive. Use your Video software and 5 min rewinds to log anything fishy. You will be surprised what you may find.

    What animation canceling?
Zenimax did all they could to delete that from the game and make it friendly for players who do not want to invest any effort at all.

That's more likely due to desync than cheating.

    This!

Despite technology advancing and players in general getting better hardware, the game has deteriorated ever since launch. What was considered unplayable lag two years ago is a GOOD DAY today.

Even worse, since the 11 hr 'maintenance' the server seems to totally break down when it comes to correctly calculating fights. I see damage hitting before the ability is being performed. I see enemy players running around for 2-5 seconds after a heavy hit, not targetable for anybody, then dropping dead all of a sudden. I cast my own skills in a rotation, see the server jumbling them wildly around - all the animations are displayed in the wrong order - and still I get the effects in the right order although they should break each other now. I see people being hit by meteors and just floating helplessly 3 meters above ground for 3 seconds. So is it a cheater that manages to roll dodge my meteor? Or is the server-hamster overwhelmed again? Impossible to say now.

What ZOS should do instead of disabling AOE skills that were part of the game from the very start (and dont claim they were only sparsely used in the beginning - healers were ALWAYS plastering Cyrodiil with a path of green healing springs!), is to massively reduce the number of different sets in PVP. There is absolutely zero surprise that a server starts to stutter when every 3 months 8 new sets are introduced into the game (plus mythic items this time) that cast new kinds of damage, buffs and debuffs, in AOE, group range and/or on targeted players.

I understand that ZOS needs to provide new content to keep ppl buying their game, but there are better ways to do that then to just flood the game with new sets (and cosmetics) until the server has a total burn-out.

People look back at the unplayable lag from years ago and remember it as no lag. :disappointed:

It's a "hobby". If you like it, and can stand it "as-is", go forth and partake in the enjoyment that PVP in this game provides. If you are sensitive to performance, balance, or well-meaning attempts to fix things that are actually a step backwards, then PVP in this game is probably not what you are looking for.

ZOS has made a successful PVE MMO and it will likely remain a PVE MMO for many years to come.

For everyone suggesting to play NoCP.... you realize there is rampant cheating in NoCP as well? It's actually more obvious that CP, because CP is diabled. Most common cheat is one that enables CP in NoCP areas, or gives stats/bonuses equal to CP.

There are others. In NoCP if the player just seems too good to be true, they're likely cheating. I have several people who get reported every time I fight them.

Um, nope, no claiming I don't use addon's here. I would never have subscribed to the game if I couldn't. And for that reason I wouldn't play on a console. And since I have consoles and enjoy playing games on them (just not this one), I don't consider myself part of a "PC master race." But since you seem to be implying that addon's are only for unskilled players, or that the only good players are those who choose to make the game more difficult for themselves by playing only on console, I guess that makes you part of the Console Master Race...? :D

Out of curiosity, if you report them every time you fight them, has ZOS ever given any indication that you are correct to suspect them of cheating?

(And we're suggesting No CP because the OP literally asks for Champion Points to be disabled. If they really want that, they know which campaign to queue for without ruining CP PVP for those of us who like it.)

I wonder how many people spend the ten bucks or whatever it is to buy the game, create a throw away email account, with a throw away ESO account, then download a cheat program and go crazy in PvP, just to see how long it takes till that account gets bannned?

Not suggesting for anyone to actually do it! Im curious on numbers is all.
