Conjured Ward has aoe effect?

I don’t get why conjured ward and it’s morphs will be effected by the aoe restrictions? What is the aoe component?

edit: Reading the description of conjured ward, I guess it’s the ward itself that is the aoe? Lol. Just semantics if you ask me, same effect as annulment. Well, rip sorc shields during the upcoming aoe tests.

The pets are shielded too, aren't they? And the empowered ward grants minor intellect to nearby allies.

I don't play a PetSorc in PvP but I would imagine that nearly all Sorcerers would trade their pets being included in the shield in order to ditch the AoE cooldown.

Annulment doesn't shield your pets. That's the difference.

I'm hoping that if any of these changes go through, that the new restrictions are factored into the "spreadsheet" they seem to pray to when it comes to balancing cost/effect. You're absolutely right. When shielding the pets is a small extra bonus of the shield, it's all good. If it's the element that's causing a massive cooldown restriction, it's now a negative effect and should be considered as such in the spreadsheet calculations. Turning a minor bonus into a massive negative needs to be considered. Players would rather have the effect scrapped than dealing with the baggage it brings. Look at jabs/sweeps. You have players calling for the aoe element to be removed so that it can still be used as a spammable. Hopefully ZOS considers these impacts appropriately when the time comes and also considers the pve collateral damage of any skill adjustments made as a result.

I don't think pets have anything to do with it. "Conjure globes of Daedric energy for protection, granting a damage shield for you and your pets" I think it's the "globes of daedric energy," the actual shield around you/pets that is the aoe. So, doesn't matter if you have pets active or not. There is not some aoe bubble around you and pets, you each have your own shield. Anybody know for sure?

Perhaps some kind of collar or electronic pet tag is needed? In real life I don’t need to scan every dog/squirrel/badger/goat/person within 200 m to identify my cat.

It's not an aoe bubble. The base morph just casts a shield on you and your familiar and matriarch, but the shield itself works exactly like annulment.

To clarify, I was replying to this part:

It's not the same as annulment.

    Regarding Conjured Ward itself:
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Conjured_Ward
    Target Area
    Area 20 meters
*It has a radius of effect, so it will only work on your pets if they are fairly close to you.

The skill itself is classified as an AoE. Annulment is not.

Oh ok. Interesting. Still, looks like pet or no pet, still aoe.

I assume that Conjured Ward must check wheter there are pets active around you to be shielded or not. Any ability that needs to check for targets in an area (rushed ceremony being the best example) have been flagged as AoE ability.

It's the pet component, for some reason they're treating that as a full AoE worthy of a cooldown, when it should be directly applying the shields to pets, as pets should basically be considered extensions of the player that summoned them.
