I want to hear from players that have been here since Release.
What’s something you miss from when the game was new? Start the sentence with back in my day.

Back in my day...you only needed 70 mats to make endgame gear and not 750.

Back in my day, healers could get by spamming heal springs in one location and lvl up with the top teir VR players. Boy, my magica was never endless back in the day either. So heal springs really helped over using BroLi.

As some one who plays since game launch, I can say:

    - Hybrids were viable.
    - Sap Tanks were a thing.
    - Wood Elves could sneak very well & Argonians that live in poisons swamp were resistant to poison...
    - DLC dungeon gear was not P2W.
    - No P2W "chapter" classes.
    - Inventory management was not kept as a ESO+ hostage (less craft mats, and problem was not as noticeable as it is now).
    - No Housing. The "house" was in a spot when you left your character when logging off ;) .
    - Gold jewellery meant "something".
    - Reaching max AW rank meant something (no 2X AP events, and AP gain was less in general).
    - Community was wayyy less toxic (just an observation).
    - Grinding proper trait gear was a nightmare.
    - Once you had the gear you needed - you were sure that you would not have to grind it again, doing same content.
    - You had certain level of trust that meta will not shift. Nowadays it changes 180° every 1 - 3 months.
    - There was literally NO nerf threads (as everything was OP :D ).

    And the most important:
Gameplay was way more smooth, fast, without cast times, wait times and lag. Today game can lag-out even in PvE zone on a world boss. In the past this kind of stuff was happening "maybe" on rare occasion in Cyro during huge fight.
If you have not played this game in 2014 - 2015, server performance was basically beyond comparison to today.

    Back in my day....

    - there was only 10 motif. all were blue and sexy ;D
    - there was only half craglorn
    - you only was able to play the game is you payed the monthly
    - pets and mementos were items
    - mounts was not collectible and you had to purchase them on each character
    - you had to feed each mounts on each character
    - you had 8 character max
    - Veteran ranks were a thing.
    - 10 veteran rank was the maximum, but with southern craglorn wet up to 12, and with north 14.
    - both pve and pvp were different

and the list could go on.

    I mentioned this in a different post but;

There were varying sizes of soul gems that you could charge up. Each size corresponded with a level of equipment it could charge. Lesser soul gems would fully charge up to lvl 40 gear, but would take ten of them to fully charge cp160 gear.

Runestone nodes used to glow with the color of runestones that it held. It wasn't all a red glow random mix and match.

Enemies were more difficult when I was low level trying to get into the higher leveled zones, since the zones didn't scale to your level.

Someone above me mentioned that the community back then wasn't nearly as toxic/entitled/childish as now; that is definitely a true statement.

i never understood the runestones simplification ***. i mean... there were good as they. but because the new player they simplified it. one color and thats it. could have been keep the colors, maybe add even more variations with the same loots?

Back in my day, we would be killed by a mudcrab we were outlevelled for in a higher level zone and merely going to Craglorn and explore had to be earned. There were caps (who remembers the orange numbers in your character sheet when you went over?) and merely world questing was a "learning to play the game" process, as it prepared you bit by bit for more difficult content. Back in my day, before group finder, there was a crowd gathering at the entrance to the group dungeons, trying to organize a group to get it done - no this last part I don't miss, but it was like that back then.
I mostly miss the times before One Tamriel.

Back in my day DK could reflect meteors
Nightblade had purge integrated in cloak
Templar had meridia on demand in its skills
    Sorcerer could streak indefinetly
And we had no p2w classes
    Awake, but at what cost

Doshia, world bosses and similar encounters.

Veteran ranks and unforgiving overland VR zones.

Costumes/disguises/mementos as loot and quest/level rewards.

Motifs as single books of varying rarity.

Not having to refine style or trait materials.

No clown store, clown store exclusives, clown store limited time deals, clown store ads... you get my drift.

No OP classes, skill lines and items hidden behind "chapter" paywalls, to be promptly nerfed back to sane levels after a brief initial hype.

Back in my day, the forum was altogether a happier place, due to both a better community and better communication from ZOS.

As for the game, there's nothing I miss. The game was great at launch and has continued to improve for me in terms of content while performance has never been an issue for me.

Back in my day DKs could use their wings to make the final boss of vMA kill himself with his own channeled fireball attack. Also back in my day Vampiric Drain stunned and vampires had to wait 30 minutes to get to stage 2, an hour more to hit stage 3, and an hour and a half more to hit stage 4! Also all vampire passives were active 100% of the time!!! What a time that was...

Community indeed was way better. It was like one huge very close family. Now it's one of the reasons I stopped playing.
