Antiquities, multi-part items question

I spent a lot of time grinding Antiquities to 10. I had to grind hard to save my golden leads for furniture. I managed to obtain everything before it experied. While doing this I also got some leads for fragments and excavated them. Like this:
Aldmeri Symphonia:
- Laquered Wooden Tone Box - excavated
- ??? - didn't find a lead yet
- Preserved Music Box Mechanism - excavated

I'm so sick of hunting Antiquities that I don't even to think of it. Yet my guildmate told me, that if my Aldmeri Symphonia is incomplete, the parts I did will expire and disappear. I'll have to do
all parts again. Is it true? Same for Thrassian Stranglers - I excavated Inert Anemone Inlay, but I don't have leads for other parts.

Those digging up the past have to live with it too. Err... I mean, if you already dug out something - it's yours, only leads expire, not fragments themselves.

Thank you so much! Now I can do Antiquities as I planned - while questing zone by zone...
