My Advice for Emperor.

Hello,

Yesterday I completed an achievement that has seemed almost insurmountable for my entire ESO career; becoming the Emperor. I learned some stuff during my time and would like to share some of my experience to anyone who's hoping to tackle this grand challenge.

1. Always keep a positive attitude.

Sometime it can be very difficult to stay positive when pushing for emperor. Some experiences include when you can't quite get the push and the other enemy team flips roebeck, or perhaps when you are closely tied with another player and they pull ahead and snag the Emperor instead of you. In these cases the best thing you can do is stay positive. Thank people in zone chat for helping make the attempt possible. If someone gets emperor before you congratulate them, and help defend them as you would like them to defend you.

2. Be ready to lead, but also be ready to make mistakes.

I learned this the hard way yesterday. I had gotten good at running a small to medium size group around taking smaller outposts and resources and the occasional keep. But sometimes you make the wrong call. The example I have is my 1st attempt at an emperor push. I had to get 4 keeps in the center. Instead of moving through Aleswell > Ash > Roebeck > Alessia I did it in reverse. DC was quiet and AD had hopped off their emperor for a little while. As soon as I went to roeback and dethroned they came back. And as a result they snagged Roebeck before I could flip Aleswell. This was crushing, being so close and yet so far away. In the end I thanked zone chat and tried to keep a positive outlook. About 6 hours later this would pay off.

3. Thank everyone you play with, no matter how small their contribution.

If you don't have an army, you don't have an Emperor. Make sure to thank every person that is trying to help push you. Thank them when they join group, thank them when they leave. I wished I could have done this more while I was playing because they were the driving force that helped me get my Emperor.

Lastly try to have fun. I have met a bunch of people of the past 2 days. Turning the grind into a social gathering helps alleviate some of the pressure.

My 1st attempt I did too. 15 hours a day, 3 days in a row drained all enjoyment out of the game for me. 2nd attempt went a lot better. Taking it as a social experience made it feel more like PvP and less like hard AP grinding.

I don't want to be emp, its more fun to kill them solo.

Ah, being searched for while their alliance loses the map, it can only be because of love! How romantic!

I'd love to but hesitant to start because that's an enormous commitment of time and gameplay. Maybe one day.

Before attempting to be emperor you should go on youtube and search "David Goggins" and watch a few of his interviews. He ran 100 miles and around mile 60 broke his bones in his foot but continued running. He did over 4000 pullups in 24 hours, and much more.

If you watch David Goggins you will get Emp no matter how bad it hurts. He turns kittens into lions.

If you want a friend, get a dog.

Sounds fascinating, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I do believe that with good networking you can get emperor on the last few days. Most people were 200-300k below my AP on day 3. So the scores level out real nice at the lower end.

I enjoyed when people hunted me. It felt like being a mini boss. I have a lot of power, but with enough coordination and skill my group could be taken down. Kudos to those who managed to overcome my advantage.
