I think it's pretty clear how to post without being silenced and it's just a forum at the end of the day!

I expressed my discontent over the contents of the upcoming patch in a polite way. I won't repeat it but it got deleted for bashing the entire patch team, apparently.

There was also a fairly amusing thread that got locked for not being constructive. Seeing as at that point the forums were fairly tetchy due to the EU server dying (yet again) I felt it relieved the tension somewhat. Again I won't link to it.

I can see this being locked for the same reason, unfortunately.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

No. But I do think ZoS are too silent on the forums! The lack of feedback and communication from them is terrible IMO. We aren't looking for someone to be answering questions 24/7 however there ARE outstanding questions which we, as paying customer's, would appreciate feedback on. Not necessarily a direct answer but even an acknowledgement that things are being considered would be grateful and appreciated.

    Absolutely.

This may not however be "Zos" per se. Moderators are people, they are human, and like many humans a little power can go to their head. Over zealous moderators are one of the blights of social media (which these forums are a form of).

I dont know what they do in the forums. What I know is that when I asked them gently in the twitch stream to fix the lag, my comment was deleted by a moderator and got a 10 min ban.

And this company expects to get money from me?

Ssssh, or you'll get silenced!!! :D

Jokes aside, yes: as long as they will keep giving subjective connotations to objective matters the whole moderation process will remain inherently flawed.
Coherence is the missing pillar here....

100% yes. It needs to be clear that this only applies to the newermoderators though. Moderators in the past were perfectly fine, closing threads and removing/editing comments which were a hard violation of the rules and just very obviously needed to be acted on.

Unfortunately the newer mods are.... not so lenient. They bend the rules to justify heavy censorship which did not used to exist on these Forums. For example, if you say that Greymoor is not good, that is merely an opinion. However it is also technically slandering the Devs since you are calling their work bad - this leads to your comment or thread being deleted. It happens constantly every day.

Most notably there is a thread called “R.I.P PC EU” which has 217K Views and 3.4K comments. It has been active ever since its creation back in October 2019. Newer moderators made an attempt to stealthily shut it down about 1-2 months ago (no comment given as to why), so the community flooded/trashed the forums with a sea of R.I.P PC EU threads until the original was restored. Basically whatever amount of complaints you find on the Forums, it’d be double if it wasn’t censored so heavily.

All I know they had a communications improvement plan or something and it apparently was not succesfull. It should still be buried in forums if someone cares enough to give an obducion to corpse.

With this small amount of votes, you can already start to estimate the general consensus of this forum population.

Let's be humble and say that approximately 50% of the members find moderation to be too restrictive or biased, then we can speak about an actual problem. No population (on a forum or in real life) would say that there isn't something going on if 50% or more of its members considers the authority being too silencing.

The rash of heavy handed moderation is fairly recent, and it coincides with the influx of new moderators. They've been busily censoring or deleting legitimate commentary left, right and centre, and the supposed mechanism for complaining about moderators doesn't work because Support simply never responds. It's not good.

    But you didn't.... you responded.

Odd thread, but there are some truths in these stories. ZoS is just trying to protect their brand though, the same way a company will have Google remove negative reviews (our marketing team will do this periodically) about their site that would drive away customers. While I naive enough to believe that all truths deserve to be spoken, when it comes to peoples bankroll it's not so simple.

Instead of hiring people to fix the lag, they hire forum moderators to "fix" all the complaints about the lag.

They need to start muting people much MORE. This place is a cesspool that drives potential players away. Many of the posters by their own admission do not even play the game. ZOS bashing is their game of choice. I would like to see the general forum changed to an auditorium style where all posts go to mods who can then modify and combine topics as necessary. It would be read only. Not a single snarky reply. Think of it as a dynamic breathing FAQ. The rest of the forums should be reserved for active ESO Plus members only.
