LanteanPegasus✭✭✭✭✭I finally found the time to start playing ESO.
Started up the PC, started ESO, logged in with my 2nd character to take some things out of the bank before playing with my main. And there it was, the endless "Requesting character load."
Went to the forums, found the inevitable "meltdown after maintenance" banner, and was resigned to not getting in, so I kept reading threads.
Then my character got in. The 2nd character. Who could take things from the bank, fine. But she has never even been to Summerset.
So I had to change characters, am stuck in "Requesting character load" again, and have my doubts if I will manage to hit the elusive jackpot of being able to play a second time this evening. Tickets, boxes, stuff, all still uncollected today.
I really wish ZOS would just keep away from maintenance while running any event under 2 weeks!

How come that WoW (who can have it's share of troubles too I admit) not have this problem? They have a simple queue where you can see what number you are and an approx ETA to get logged in. It's not like ZOS is a poor company, why can't they implement some decent hardware and features much like WoW is using and be done with all the crap?

Its a cut and paste, well worn out banner, that means absolutly NOTHING.
What will happen is people will get fed up with waiting and go and do somethjing else, the queue will drop naturally and then in an hour or two ZOS will say - There you go, we fixed it.

This! This every single time. They don't fix anything, some of us have to go to work the next day and just give up to go to bed.2 -

WOW uses an far simpler system with say 100 individual servers all over, they run independently only require an central login server but all characters was on various servers.Seen that every time after an extended maintenance, just all players eager to log in. This is order of magnitudes easier to handle but it has some downsides, you can be on an popular server and get login queues on updates, you can be on an dead server so auction house feel like you have an trader out in the wild in ESO.
Worse you can be on am very unbalanced PvP server. This is worse than Cyrodil in the wrong color as the endgame overland zones in WOW tend to be small, think an ESO story DLC who is an PvP zone and you are outnumbered 100:1
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.1 -

Now the banner saying some players are having login issues seems to have disappeared. And still, when I try to log in, I get "requesting character load" until it times out and sends me back to the login screen. So, looks like no daily reward, and no event tickets. Again. Plus I have a guild to run and trader slots to fill. And I wouldn't actually mind being able to play. It seems that every time there is a problem I am one of those "some players" that get the problem.
I really wish something would be done about it.0
