should there be a new Mesmer style class?

Just thought i'd ask if people would like a new Mesmer class of toon to combat high damage mages and mix up PvP a bit.

I feel silly, but what's a Mesmer supposed to be? Google-fu only led me to an interesting article on Franz Mesmer, so are we talking about hypnosis? If so, the Illusion school IS rather underutilized in ESO.

On one hand, this game can always use more butterflies.

On the other hand, "Mesmer class" is a bit vague. What exactly do you have in mind? A GW2 mesmer? Or something else?

What do you see as the essence of the class? Interrupts? Other similar interference? Clones?

Mesmer 's put hex's on toons and cancel/reverse spells mass aoe damage that type thing.would be nice addition to negates in pvp

High damage what?

... In theory such class would be really awesome but on the other hand ZOS proved they would gut basic classes and overbuff this one just to sell more. No thanks.

I mean in elderscrolls isn't mesmer more a master of the illusion magicka?
I feel similar about daedric summoning being just a tree in sorcerer when it should of been a entire conjuration class if you ask me.

That could be cool but there also should be some kind of REAL warrior class imo

Man what I wouldn't give to have a mesmer class like in EverQuest. I'd simply lock a whole group of mobs down as the group awaken one to kill while I cycled through the rest keeping them asleep. Pretty should that wouldn't work here but I had such a good time then. But that really can't exist in a burst damage type game. I'd like to see a bard in the game but I'm not sure besides travel speed what they could slow. It would just be stuns and that wasn't any type of mesmer I know of (didn't play one in EQ2). Maybe a stun cycle where every two seconds a stun hits for some length of time? Maybe cause mass off balance as that's as much non-stun this game could have? Dunno. Think the time of the mesmer is over.

Yeah I said mesmer but was thinking enchanter. Mez was one of our most used skills. Mesmer's in Guild Wars were more like dealing with speed and illusion.

lol, this aint GW2! funny that a light armor class is one of the best tanks in that game but yea, no need for time warping and all that, doesnt fit the lore,period.
