Armor styles - unprotected back side

A lot of recent armor styles - for example the upcoming event armors look good from the front but horrible from the back

see here: https://mmo-fashion.com/blog/eso-fashion-stonethorn-dlc/

The front is all protected, but for some reason all the great armor smiths decide to stop their work on the back as the back side, legs, are all open - why would a boot for example look super heavy on the front but than like a soft fur moccasin on the back?

Would you go to fit in those imperial leggins? I wouldnt

This just looks stupid - and the backside is what you are looking at while playing your character 95% of the time so it should be even more important... I think it would be nice if this could be taken into account for future designs...

Those imperial short shorts, :s Nooo. When are we getting some nice tunic looking thing with pteruges? Like Order of the Hour, but with the new better textures and without those painted on leggings under.

Also, no armour on the back explains how many attacks from the back ignores armour. 'Cause there is none!

What's getting me is that some of those breast pieces are....well, looking like they are too small for the male characters they are on, as if a sports bra has been lain over the whole thing ><; The shape just...doesn't quite look right for the male figure.

Hopefully next year we get a more up to date motif style in the vein of the Order of the Hour or maybe they'll just offer an updated version through antiquities. (Just please no tassets and crotch flaps on the new/updated styles.)

That's what I'm hoping. Less flaps and tassets in general, and let our imperials show some leg.

I play mostly males so I just figured their artist do crotch flaps because they don't know how to do a slight bulge or are embarrassed. I figure its embarrassment since the backside all have saggy bottoms no matter the sex of the character. Got a female wearing some light set with tunic and she's got the old saggy baggy backside I think most women would be embarrassed to wear. Pull you pants up, lady, you ain't no plumber!

Not all. At least one version of the Bosmer style and one Argonian style from Murkmire look rather tight-fitting.

I want the exact opposite of this. I want more armour styles without the horrible crotch/bum flaps.

Maybe it’s because they figure your characters have buns of steel

Perhaps the lack of armour at the rear, is simply to facilitate easy access.

    I will say no more.

I have not noticed any of these. Actually, I've had an opposite problem finding loose fitting trousers.

Why spend precious resources and time fortifying the back of a soldier if it is facing the enemy.

For most of history soldiers only armoured critical organs and the part of their body facing the enemy.

Roman soldiers basically only wore socks on their feet :P

Most ESO armor styles are just for looks. In a real battle they would be totally useless.

However a lot of armour is about protecting hips and shoulders. Usually with ugly metal trays flying in the air...
Locals seems to love their hip trays so much that they add them everywhere, even on light dresses :/
I can hardly imagine how it may be comfortable to sit with those things...

It's not a realism argument, it's a artists don't conjure ideas from thin air argument.

I think its the set from Scalebreaker (Was that the name?) but you have a halter top with an armor piece across the shoulders. Rightly colored looks pretty good. But from the back side... it always looks like she's had an accident. Maybe I just like clothing too tight on females. I use the newer Naryu costume on a Dunmer female with max setting on the backside and its perfect. Never take it off. But if I remember right, that also made this character I'm talking about less well endowed. Maybe its just Breton women...

    My take..

We're adventurers, not official military, so sitting down on the job is sometimes a thing. Armour on yer ass makes that difficult.

Also, heavy armour on the front, facing the attacker. If you turn tail and run you deserve a swift kick to the nethers ;)

Out of all the possible choices for footwear on my 13 characters I use very little as I think the armor at the front with fabric straps at the back looks stupid, often not aligning with the aesthetic of the rest of what is being worn.

If you were a construction worker & for safety chose to wore steel toe cap boots would you want them with a solid front but then held on at the back with fabric straps?

Thankfully there are a few choices that arent like that.

Having worked in a blacksmith forge, absolutely (for the apron). Heavy leather on the front protects you from the heat and sparks but you really don't want it on the back, you'd expire from heat exhaustion. It's held in place by... fabric straps ;)

In the end though, none of it is really very realistic. Trying to find an axe that looks manageable for more than one swing, not so easy.
