Can we choose where new characters start?

I really loved starting a new character in Elsweyr, but really don't like starting in Greymoor. Is there a way to start my next new one in Elsweyr?

Only if you travel to Elsweyr after logging in. Currently you appear at the current dlc location.

You always start at the newest content you own. I believe it goes in the order of Base Game > Morrowind > Summerset > Elsweyr > Greymoor.
PC NA - Ceyanna Ashton - Breton Vampire MagDK

I was hoping that they would allow this with Greymoor. :disappointed:

That depends. How much should we charge for it in the cash shop?!

They really need to allow us to choose our tutorial quest. It would really help new players out, and then we'd be able to have a sort-of linear story.

Something like a popup window when you click 'new character' that looks like this:
    wm5XJQ8.png

It'd even allow them to advertise old chapters with a 'buy now!' button

I'd even like it if we could take created characters through the old tutorials, since some (like Greymoor's and I think Summerset's) are pretty well integrated into the year's storyline, but a character created previously doesn't have the ability to see that storyline anymore.

Besides, they spent the money to write the quest and hire the actors; it's a shame that we can't see the old ones anymore at all.

We've been asking for that since Morrowind. I recall at one point when asked about it rich said he thinks its a great idea. despite that there has been no indication what so ever that they are considering adding this long requested feature.

Pretty silly really, since it means that we now have 4 game starts/tutorials that nobody gets to experience.

Oh my. You made me realise that as soon as new chapter drops there will be new tutorial without Fenn. Oh, horror :o

I wish. Elswyr was by FAR the best of the tutorials, closely followed by Morrowind. Summerset was the worst, until Greymoor. Both Summerset and Greymoor are tedious and annoying, but you could get better loot from the containers in the Summerset tutorial, and at least it was brief. Greymoor goes on and on forever, and the best I've ever picked up there was a handful of lockpicks, even playing at really odd hours for the server.

But Elswyr... I got tons of blue and purple recipes in the tutorial, and it was also the most interesting and useful experience.

(I'm not counting Coldharbour in this ranking, since you can still do that one on every character after you do the chapter tutorial. Personally, though, I think it's just ok, even though some people go on and on about how superior it is.)

Players have been asking for this since Morrowind came out, but ZOS don't seem interested in giving us the option.

I don't know why, they could still make the default that you're funnelled into the latest area if they're afraid new players won't be able to find it and won't enjoy the rest of the game, only offering the choice for additional characters, alongside the current option to skip the tutorial entirely. And most of the tech is clearly already in place since players currently start in different locations depending on which chapters they own, they'd just need to add the UI and coding for players to choose instead of the game choosing for you.

Yes! And moreover, they already give you the option, once you've completed the tutorial at least once, to skip the tutorial altogether. It seems like it couldn't be that difficult to add an option to either skip the tutorial or choose from a list of which one to complete.

Start a new character before the chapter drops? Now, I personally have zero use for the whole Greymoor chapter up to and including Nords, Vampires, Werewolves, and the Reachmen/Hagravens (if there are any of the Hags - dunno about that since I haven't bought the chapter) - but if Fennorian is important to your enjoyment of the tutorial....

I always do start a character to check out new tutorial. It's just the fact that a tiny piece of content that I enjoyed will be unavailable in the future makes me equally tiny bit sad

Ah. I don't if it's something like Greymoor where I just don't care. I'm annoyed that I didn't get to do the original game tutorial (I started with MW as that came with the game version I bought). Summerset's was fine, Elseweyr's was outstanding. I won't mind never making a new character to run through the Greymoor one.

Whatever next chapter is, it's bound to make me happier than this one. Unless of course it's a year devoted to pvp crap.

You can always create a new character, then immediately start that chapter from the Collections pane. Other than that, there's no official or elegant way of choosing, no.

And if you need it, check out this artfully done guide by some absolute champ here:

    Hello. Yes.

Fennorian is definitely important to my enjoyment of the tutorial.

On a more serious note, I never understood why they couldn't allow some sort of drop down menu in the character creation screen to choose which prologue we get.

And I think it's a shame, especially since they have characters from the Prologues REACT to you during the main quest if you did their associated prologue beforehand...I never got to experience the original Main prologue, or the Summerset one either.
