Its hard to believe with the games current performance and how proc sets have performed in the past that ZOS could ever imagine making proc sets look as they do on the PTS. However this is how the game is looking to play out next patch and it seems that the target looking to be destroyed is essentially anyone who plays PvP not in the presence of a healer with a cleanse/purge. Healing nerfs from the live patch already show this, ballgroups and zergs have been entirely unaffected, with most spamming and stacking an absurd number of rapid regen ticks, heavy use of purge makes them immune to essentially all changes.
This next patch will be no different, these groups that have lost their necro bombers as damage dealers will simply be the ones slotting a ridiculous number of proc damage sets and single target DOTs, of which there is essentially no counter as an outnumbered group or solo. The worst part of this change is that in a laggy situation (which cyrodil is in a permanent state of being) DOTs (Weather skill or Proc damage sets) will always outperform burst damage and the lag these groups generate makes it near impossible to even play in the same area as them. When you are unable to barswap and CC break, you are essentially giving the outnumbering group with 100k of incoming healing a second free kills for even being in the area. All this along with the changes to NMA based on ‘group synergies’ shows the total disregard for health of small scale play.
Battlegrounds is already in an abysmal state with just about everyone who is competitive running grothdar, malacaths and an entire bars of DOTs, essentially letting your group melt any other group that doesn’t have a huge HOT output. I think BGs next update will be near unbearable and I will farm losses to avoid high ELO against multiple proc damage set malacaths DK dominating games(who dominate this and the previous meta anyway).
The worst part is ZOS makes change after change to not directly buff large group play but essentially nerf every other playstyle to near non existence and the player population reflects this. Peak time PvP barely has a queue and off time is essentially dead with these groups continuing to play PvDoor and farming AP ticks when no one else is on. I am predicting nightblade gankers and roaming bands of classes with a good cleanse will be about the only players not in a ball group or zerg next update and I am expecting new lows for the number of regular PvP participants. So this is pushing a new low when it comes to a skill gap, what difference is there between 2 DOT builds running proc damage sets? Its basically turning PvP in to an RNG cointoss of who gets more frequent and consistent procs of their auto damage sets and with no changes to regen stacking and cross healing it only further reinforces the dominance of the biggest groups on the server wins PvP this game is becoming increasingly balanced towards.
