Non-Stop Crown Scammers on PS4

Between running a large trade guild and zone chat, the amount of times we see crown scammers is really getting ridiculous.

The ability to trade crown currency for gold really needs to be added to the game so this crap stops. I keep seeing reports of the same names scamming people, never getting banned or anything. Come on guys make it easy to exchange currency so this goes away permanently please. Ty.

It'd also be a way we could have people sell crown houses to each other fyi

Seen a lot of people complaining on PC about getting scammed too. They just get told to report them.

That will never happen. In the current state the items get originally payd with crowns. That means players can exchange cash for ingame gold. [snip]

Your suggestion will reverse the exchange and will cause a loss [snip].

Although it would be nice to make crown items accessible through gameplay.

Huh? Say you trade 500k gold for 5000 crowns, then you buy what you want.

The exchange of gold for crowns is an activity that is done by players, and even though ZOS allows it, it isn't a system they have anything to do with - they don't regulate, control or intervene it.

Crown exchange is allowed because at the end of the day it brings revenue to ZOS, even if the seller is using crowns acquired through ESO+ - because the only way to buy a subscription is with a real life currency.

Crowns have value in real life since the only way to acquire it is to use a real life currency. In-game gold, OTOH, is a made up currency and has no value in real life.

I doubt we'll ever see the ability of buying crown items with in-game gold. Not only it would decrease the amount of real life currency injected in the game, I'm sure people would come up with all kinds of hacks and find all kinds of exploits to get more gold.

Don't they already farm gold with botting and other exploits?
Definitely the Gifting process means every item goes through Crowns, which means real money for ZOS, which is hard to pass up.
If you look at the Crown Exchange Discords and how many Crowns move every day, it's actually a wonder that ZOS doesn't formalize the exchange of Crowns for in-game gold as long as every single Crown meant IRL money entered their pockets.
It's not like they don't have a shortage of case studies to examine with other games that have done the same.
In NWO you can even buy months worth of subscriptions essentially through in-game currency and people farm those sources like mad.

Crowns are literally the only thing I buy anymore. I'll spend 300k on monster styles a month and then 6M - 10M on crowns for everything else.

Doesn't help much that the only new monthly content is crown store locked.

That means that no one buys crowns for real money. What would cause a loss of income for the publisher.

No, it means people would still buy crowns, then sell those crowns to other players for in-game gold. Just like they do now, except with a regulated trade system instead of relying on good faith, which gives rise to scammers.

The injection of crowns into the game will still come from real $£€ and crown items still are crown items. We just want a system for trading crown items for gold between players that doesn’t rely on “trust.”

I wonder what the tithe will be, if they regulate it. Think of the COD fee.

Yep, "gift capsules" for crown items, ez, send in mail, trade in person, or sell in guild store, imagine the possibilities.

Issue is WoW tried this and guess what it blew up i there face it really stop the gold sellers you steal see theme in the game doing there gold selling scheme only difference is that the company blizzard starting banning theme, making gold in this case crowns to be converted into something else wont work they still will do it, banning theme is the only option that works.
Players of wow don't realize that is what they do and praise the system works but when you dig past the surface and dig into it you find the truth, the company banns theme for doing the gold sell stuff even then the system they use cam under extreme back lash from the community itself.

That's a fantastic idea, They could even charge a small fee in crowns to buy a "gift capsule" make it something like 250 crowns and it can be loaded with any crown store item that can be gifted (but leave gifting there too) and it just becomes a trade-able item that clearly says what is inside of it. If it's opened the item inside becomes account bound, but if it's not it could be continuously traded.

Yup, always seeing new names pop up on the blacklists and sometimes see the same names circulate around again and again. Warning in zone chat only does so much, and it's only such a small handful of the most... uh, dedicated, I guess you'd say... portion of the fanbase that even interacts with the game via other outside-the-game arenas such as the forum and social media, so it's an even smaller pool of players actually being forewarned by the blacklists on, say, Facebook, etc.

I also will never understand why houses cannot be gifted. You'd think, especially with the plethora of Crowns-only houses - that ZOS would make a killing on people wanting to sell those and become in-game mega-millionaires. Unless that's how they're attempting to prevent get-rich-quick which, if that's the case, they missed a whole lotta other ways one can. Including selling basically everything else in the Crown store as a Crown seller. LOL

I just know I've personally seen at least two guildmates talking about saving up to buy such-and-such house and I've had to break the news to them that none of the guild's trusted Crown sellers would be able to gift those to them.
