Question About Magicka Steal

If my faction, team mates, group, are attacking something I applied magicka steal to, do I get the magicka steal? For instance with radiant aura it gives 300 while damaging but does that mean that I have to be damaging as well?

It requires them to do damage to a target with magicka steal to gain the magicka. You already did your part.

Edit: but if you are the healer you could lay down WoE and gain magicka yourself. Even though you cast the magicka steal you will not gain any magicka from it unless you do some damage. A DoT is the best way to do that.

Yeah i'l thinking of running degeneration as my dot to get the 20% major sorcery for bigger heals.

Yeah i'l thinking of running degeneration as my dot to get the 20% major sorcery for bigger heals.

Degen only ticks every 2s, so you'll miss every other tick of magicka return with only that. AoE DoTs like Wall tick every second.

I have a friend that insists that you don’t need to do damage yourself to get magicka steal. Can you confirm this? In other words your team mates can proc it for you.

First I've heard of it. And it contradicts the description.
