Looking for plans on building a narrow wooden staircase

I found a small room today in my house, Serenity Falls Estate, that I didn't know was there. It's up a story in the middle of the second floor. I made a temporary ramp so I could access it. It contained a small rug and a stack of books.

Now I need to build a decent looking staircase. All the stairs you can buy with crowns are way too big.

Any ideas?

There isn't really a lot of options in that front that won't be slot intensive; I would recommend possibly exploring sinking the stairs you've looked into halfway or more into the wall so that they are shorter.

If you aren't concerned about slots then typically the wall-shelves make stairs that can be walked up and down on without jumping. I'd say definitely try out designs on the PTS if you have it downloaded so you aren't wasting your gold/resources trying to find what works.

Agree with Kitty, sinking the regular stairs into the wall would be your best bet. So you can place some Alinor or Elsweyr style stairs through the wall, with only a narrow portion of them being visible in the house but still being walkable. This will save you slots, but an issue might be clipping through the ceiling below (if you need to place their first step flush with the floorboards, their 'bottom' might be visible in the ceiling of the floor below).

Alternatively, Rough Platform Stage or Limestone Stairway could be used too, but you'll need more slots for these.

If you don't insists on stairs, then a ramp would be a decent option too. The Murkmire Ramps, or any straight surface really could be placed at an angle (and if needed and clipped into the wall to make them narrower) and give you a walkway to the loft space. The Scavenged plates from CWC for example would match the golden part of the Khajiit house interior, I think.

Ahh I almost forgot! It's crown only but Redguard Fence, Wooden fits the house relatively well as it's mostly wood with some golden embellishment and can be viewed as stairs. Depending on how "all out" you are willing to go you can make it visually look like stairs with this method.

You can angle them as needed for representation as they are pretty long.

I would be ok with a ramp if it doesn't look weathered and beat up. The problem with making stairs a riser at a time is that you have to make them very shallow so you can walk, rather than jump, up them.

I think this has potential. I do want it to hug the wall though, but I think that could almost be done if I use one or two landings.

I ended up using Kittytravel's idea of the Redguard Fence, Wooden. It only took one fence, then I used a stone slab for the landing for now. It's pretty plain looking but I am going to try to fill in under it, or hang tapestries or banners from it, or something to make it blend in better, but it works very well!

And in case you are curious, this is what I did with the room so far. Every home should have a Hookah Lounge!
