You could maybe try swapping something like your x button with your l3 button. [Jump and sprint would he swapped]
100% support this request. Not only for accessibility options as OP suggests (I volunteer for a charity that creates and adapts controller for children with disabilities and motor issues), but also because pressing 2 buttons at once for synergies and ultimate is like ability roulette on console; you never know if one or the other skill will fire instead. On PC I have remapped my controller for d-pad left ultimate, d-pad down synergy and it plays much better than the default setup. Just a simple rebind menu would be huge QoL for console players, I don't understand why it's been overlooked for so long.

I think it's absolutely wonderful that you volunteer for something like that! I agree with the rest of what you said, too. Your comment actually reminded me of a product my brother recently told me about. I wonder if this might help me and others.
Dualshock 4 Back Button Attachment
I'm not sure it'll help with synergies and ults, but I could map R3 to the back right paddle, which would make things a lot easier for me.

Thanks for sharing this! Does anyone know whether this attachment would work for PS4 controllers used on PC? I play with a controller and having extra buttons would be awesome, as the synergies, bash, ultimate are all double button combos, thus very clanky and prone to fail. Would it be possible to bind these extra paddles from the attachment to ulti/synergy, or would I need a seperate software etc., to do that?

I've considered that, but it'd mess with my settings in some other games. Do you have to switch things for other games? Is it tedious?

Once you have the key binds changed you can enable or disable it to play other games. Disabled just reverts to normal controls so its easy to turn on and off. You can also add the accessibility option to your quick menu screen for easier access.
