Most of that video is not gameplay to begin with. The game is so early in development they have done little to no testing of the MMORPG but pretty much have used a battle royal to work out some aspects of the game. Character builds, as it would be in the MMORPG, are not even possible in the battle royal.

Heck, they are still in Beta. Creating animated simulations of the game does not mean the game will actually look like that. The limited gameplay footage they have released looks nice but again it is too early to really see how the game will turn out let alone it making it to launch. The game's storytelling is likely to be lower quality than ESO, if it ever launches.

My guess is Zos will not favor having their forums server as a source of advertising for another game.

I have "alpha". There is no game, I doubt it will ever be made. The devs decided to flip it into a battle royale for the past year and a half. When the other backers got justifiably pissed, they backtracked. It's been pretty much radio silence since then, except for the in-game shop items they try to sell the backers.

Honestly I think having a separate battle royale mode for people to play while you are developping the world and game is actually a very smart idea to have a long period of time where players can test and give feedback with regards to combat which is the hardest thing to get right...

That being said, I have no doubt this will most likely be vapoware like most of these "bigger and better than anything else" projects ultimately are... nevertheless I do think they have some interesting ideas; and some new ideas and concepts to explore could be good for mmo's since everything has become very streamlined and samey...

Spoken much more succinctly that I did. Considering how far behind they are from their original timeline for beta and how long the alpha phases have been drawn out in addition to the battle royale not being part of the original plan I question if it will ever go live as an MMORPG.

Hardly something to draw inspiration from.

I didnt mean this as advertising as I dont believe this game will ever see the light of day... more as a source of new ideas and inspiration

If this is already breaching the forum rules than a mod shall decide and lock it

I mean you could maybe say that archage was a game that had similar-ish ideas and that was / is a real game that was quite successful at least for a time being...

The builds in the battle royale do not even begin to reflect the builds they have planned for the MMORPG. That means the combat feedback is worthless. The design is not even close to what they have proposed for the MMORPG. They are not even getting valuable server load data since battle royales have small fixed populations.

People still haven't learnt their lesson with Star Citizen & co.

It will not magically "come out complete in 2-3 years" with the giant laundry list of features like the uninitiated seem to think it will - especially with how behind schedule & drama-filled their development has been.

the one thing i like about these projects...or call em dreams...are that they bring in some fresh wind... mmos/games as a service have a bit the issue that they become incredibly complacent due to profit motif and lack of risk taking.

And its a bit happening with eso too unfortunately... this became clear to me with the release of greymoor, the zone is fine and all... the release schedule is fine and all, but its down to "just more of the same"...with a very derivative story, no new ideas or really new content...

I just dont know how long you can stay engaged with that if were basically getting the same thing every year just with a different coat of paint on it...

The BR test was used to test code and back-end stuff. In fact, according to Steven Shariff they found out some code that was outdated/ineffective and changing resulted in massive improvements. Even more important is the fact that they found out BEFORE more code was going to be layered ontop of that code, which would have made it problematic to fix had it not been found. It was never intended for gameplay or class feedback.

Listen. I get being skeptical given the absolute shitshow filled with scum the gaming industry has become, i am too but please... do not go around spreading false or wrong information. Steven Shariff was interviewed by Asmongold 1 or 2 days ago, if anyone is interested in the game.

Promising the earth. We will see what happens.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.
