[Concept] Spectator mode for dungeons/trials/BG

Env_t

- each group will have some amount of spectator slots, lets say 3
- spectator's character will stay outside of instance, doing some emote - watching in magic mirror for example
- spectators will have full control of free camera inside the instance where group running content, they will able to watch from any angle and height
- spectators will be able to use Group Finder, to join and watch random/specific dungeon/trial run or BG
- spectators will be able to write in chat/use voice chat, depends on Group Settings


imagine amount of content it can generate - videos and screenshots!
also this will work very well for coaching! When Veteran players will teach newbs from the distance, and will be able to better see who failed and where

what do you think?

Would be cool if we would actually get working MMR and you can just watch some of the top mmr fights. Sadly bgs are boring bc the matchmaking and MMR mixing makes all fights one sided

Don't worry next patch you don't even need to play for yourself. Just slap on 3 proc sets and let them clear pve, PvP and questing for you. ESO will be 100% skillfree!!1!

Not so weird really, you can do this in MtGo(though an online card game isn't quite the same I guess), it does provide some strategic insight you might otherwise miss. I think number of watchers is unlimited. I haven't noticed any watchers being toxic in that game...but I can imagine in ESO that might be different....the whole playerbase here is more toxic and elitist.

The only thing I could personally find interest in, would be a type of "classic" arena where you can either be fighter or spectator. I think I would watch sometimes. Could also be nice for roleplaying. Meeting at the arena to watch a match and have a chat, and such.

Sounds like Twitch.

BUT for BGs this has potential as a referee slot where at any time and without player knowledge, a ZOS GM could have a peek.

Top players could even makes a bit of gold selling "tutorial runs" directly.

Sure why not, with the exception though that group instanced content be fixed and flawless first.

Under no circumstance should this be added to further degrade group instance performance. It's bad enough with desyncs and freezes and dcs that this would certainly exasperate the situation.

Okay but it’s still watching other people play a game instead of playing it yourself, just like Twitch. That being said, I support the idea. I don’t get the appeal myself, but I realize that it’s enjoyable for loads of people (maybe I’m too old, get off mah lawn ) and expanded options are always nifty, so I’m for it.

Have you never played FrostVault?
Always someone gets a dc during the endboss fight.

Spectator mode would be amazing!

You could make a group of new players, and have someone guide them through.

You could also spectate veteran players and pick up tips and trick on your game.
