What would be a good midsize house for a vampire?

Im looking for something that would decorate well in a dark daedric theme. I don't want something too big because I don't know if there are enough dark themed furnishings to fill a large house.

What have some of you other Vampires done?

No self-respecting vampire would be caught dead in anything less than a mansion on the hill. A half furnished mansion would be chosen always over a fully furnished cottage. But in answer to your question:

Strident Springs, if you have Imperial copy of game, would suit the darker furnishings. Also has that pointed architecture, almost. It feels semi-mansion. Surrounded by rocky hills, relatively secluded with no immediate neighbours.

Forsaken Stronghold, although Orc could easily support the dark furnishings, especially if you placed dark carpets around the walls to act as rich wallpaper. You could really classy up the place. The name also suits.

Some of the Dunmer homes would work, eg: Quandum. Those homes always seem haunted to me somehow. :)

Just my two cents. Hope you get what you are looking for. :)

My vampire, who was a witch before being a vampire, has exorcised coven cottage but that home is only available during the witches festival in October usually. I think she will upgrade to her forever home eventually though. She would like Daggerfall Overlook or Bastion Sanguinaris depending on affordability.
Gardner house is quite nice and with some modifications could be daedric styled and Velothi Reverie is quite spooky with dark basement.

I mean, anything can work. It depend on the character, aka the vampire. Far from all vampires are a stereotype who only want dark evil looking mansions.

The dunmer and imperial houses are quite nice medium ones. Mainly made of stone aswell so they can fit a daedric theme.

Or, you could pick one of the many homes that are in the middle of town. Hiding in plain sight, as it were.

Main Floor, looks all normal. Other floor is where you have your Vampire stuff

You have given me a lot to think about. Vampires often present themselves as intelligent and refined, with a taste for the finer things in life (or undeath). As another poster stated above:

I completely agree with both of you. But, for me, there has to be an area of the house, a basement, a room tucked away in a corner, or a dark secluded courtyard, where the Vampire can fully embrace their dark side.

So I guess the perfect Vampire house would be large, possibly in a secluded location, nice but not warm or cozy (stone would be perfect) and with a private area to fully explore their dark side.

Now I just need to find that place.

Velothi Reverie. It's available for gold, has a gothic look to it, has a crypt downstairs and a loft upstairs, and a couple of rooms. Easy to furnish and feels very comfortable for my vampire.

Gardner house can be decorated to look like a normal home but then in the basement you can hide all the vampy stuff like coffins and the like. Its decently sized and can have quite a few guests over if you're into hosting parties and roleplay.

This isn't related to vampirisim but if you have a DC crafter the Gardner home is in a great spot for turning in writs.

I don't want to go all out haunted house style. I recently acquired this https://eso.mmo-fashion.com/sixth-house-ritual-table/ and thought it would be a great piece for a Vampire's home. This is the style of furnishings I would like.

For my "secret" area I was thinking of a dark ritual room, with an altar and the classic tomes and candles, etc., where my Vampire could fully embrace her dark side in a private and secure setting.

I don't really think any of the midsize houses in the game are sufficiently gothic to be considered Vampiric, to be honest.

...and even the new, huge, custom-made one is more like a sprawling dungeon path than a gothic mansion.

You could probably make Proudspire Manor look, at least somewhat, appropriate.

Certainly, some of the Vampiric furniture looks nice in there and it has the whistling wind soundtrack going for it, which could add to the slightly unsettling vibe.

A few people have mentioned this place, and I do like a lot about it. The only thing that bothers me is how closed in the main floor feels with all those huge pillars all over the middle of the room. I do like the pointed arches these pillars are holding up, but it feels cramped.

I am not sure if that's a deal breaker, though. I am trying to imagine some of my furnishings in there. An item I really wanted to display on the main floor is pretty good sized, and may not fit well anywhere in there.

I do love the layout of the other rooms and floors, though.

Yes, I know what you mean about the pillars, when you are viewing it unfurnished, but it actually feels fine once you have put furniture in it.

Obviously, I don't know if the item you mention would fit in there, or not - it may not, if it's very big.

Mine's themed as an inn (The Snow Bear Inn), so I ended up splitting that middle floor into three zones, with a bar area to the left (as you enter from the door you port into), a seating area with tables in the middle zone to the right of the entrance door and then a lounge area, with a fire, sofas and Vampiric furniture, to the far right, in the part that opens out with no pillars:

    lOlJHPE.png

    rSso0oe.png

As you can see, I've done mine in a warm, cozy and quite pretty way (a bit like an old English pub), but you could easily make it darker and less comfortable feeling by turning off some lights and switching out some of the prettier details (including some of the lights).

Unfortunately, I can't really post any new screenshots easily, at the moment, as after a recent Windows (thanks for everything, Microsoft! :() update I can't go on the internet anymore, on the laptop I play on and the game won't run properly on this.

There are a couple more pics that might help you see scale and so on, on Imgur, though.

Ignore the ones where the game was having various amusing graphics issues...

This is the item I was referring to. https://eso.mmo-fashion.com/sixth-house-ritual-table/ I was thrilled when I got the lead because I just got the Sixth House costume. I loved the idea of a mythical group of "Vampires of the Sixth House", and thought this would look great in a Vampire themed home.

I actually have 2 of them now and could imagine it as a formal dining table, or sunk down to the floor in front of the altar I plan to place, like a pseudo pentagram.

I am still very interested in this home, and really like the idea of a city dwelling, proper and refined Vampire. I may just take a chance.

Might be able to fit that (with chairs around it) in the end bit, where I have my chairs and sofas.

However, I think it would look better downstairs, personally, as you don't have the blue floor tiles down there and there are no pillars.

You can make one end (the one nearest the door to the street) of the large room, down there, into a kitchen area and then the other end into a dining area.

I made the other end of mine into another seating area, with sofas, as I already had enough dining/drinking tables elsewhere, but you get the general idea.

The table looks to me like it's about the same size as the circular Alinor rug I have there, so I think it should fit even with chairs around it (especially if you pull it out a bit more from the built-in fireplace):

    f2F4Nv7.png

    l4vWQEn.png

Alternatively (or additionally), if you wanted to go with the sunk into the floor idea, you could also (almost certainly) fit one in what I think of as the crafting room (the smaller room on the same floor).

Again, I have the same circular rug in there, so it should hopefully fit (especially without the Alinor fireplace):

    PEltHZJ.png

...and in fact, you couldn't easily go for that idea upstairs, anyway, as the table legs would show through the ceiling (downstairs).

I am still very interested in this home, and really like the idea of a city dwelling, proper and refined Vampire. I may just take a chance.

I would, if I were you - it's definitely one of the better houses in the game and it also has a generous furnishing limit for its size.

By the way, the Vampiric bed with the black cover also looks quite nice, against the stone, in the bedroom upstairs.

I didn't go with it in the end, as I wanted to tie the colour of the bedding in with the colours in the rugs I used as wallcoverings (so, went with an Elsweyr bed, instead), but black does look nice in there, as well.

So, the dark coloured table should look good, downstairs, too.

I was about to turn Mournoth Keep into a Vampire home before the Greymoor changed my mind about having Vampires.

The plan was to turn it into an isolated and long-forgotten tomb.

Screen the lower story and the chimney with rocks on the outside. Lots of creeper, shrubs and trees outside as well.

The interior has low ceilings and a low light level. I'm sure it would be fairly easy to make it look very sepulchral.

I don't think I would use the top floor for my bedroom. I don't care as much for the wooden floors, and prefer the cool stone, or tile, floors of the lower level. I also like being further away from the sun when sleeping.

As far as the top floor, that may be where I put my private Vampire rooms, and altar. Further away from people on the street, so less chance of detection. I may also hide the stairs up with a false wall, or bookcase, or tapestry, so it's not obvious there is even a top floor to my guests.

    Ah, OK.

The only problem with putting it up there, if you sink it into the floor, will be that the table legs will poke through the floor into the living room downstairs.

I had to be careful how far I sunk a Vampiric dresser into the floor, which I was using to put a wash basin on, because the legs were poking through the ceiling and the legs on that are, obviously, far shorter than the legs on the table.

That's a very good point. If they only poke through a little bit, though, I could suspend a tapestry, or other decorative item, from the ceiling to hide them.

Or hang lights and crystals from them and make a chandelier.
