Is the long elusive werewolf mage possible? I'm asking for the people.

(Disclaimer: not for PVP or endgame PVE, just for fun minus dying and hitting like a wet noodle and so forth.)

Pure magicka spec WW ? Well...

For overland & questing - maybe. For soloing world bosses ? I am not sure if it would work.

The only magicka stat that matters for WW is magicka recovery and (to a very little degree) max magicka, as it allows to cast more heals. Anyway, I think that if you want to use WW on magicka build with at least some level of effectiveness - you would have to hybridize a bit.

It all depends on how much "mage" you would want the build to be. You could for example use New Moon or Shacklebreaker set as it buffs both stats (mag & stam). Also, weapon choice does not matter for WW, as weapon passives do not carry over to WW form. So it pretty much does not matter if you are using Destro staff or Two Handed sword.

Thank you for the insight. I have a theory that if I were to use New Moon and offset the cost increase with Perfected False God's, use Slimecraw, maybe throw a health enchant or two on, it could allow me to have a little fun when I'm feeling more casual. I could just swap the gear and ult out when I want to play. Do the set bonuses from weapons carry over? Say, if I just swapped in New Moon jewelry and staff and left the False God's on my body.

My magsorc contracted lycanthropy as a random accident a couple years ago and I never cured it, that's why I'm curious about all this.

I'm confused as to what you want to play... what spells could you use to be a mage in werewolf form?

Why not just use some regular stam gear when playing as werewolf? Suboptimal race and attributes won't break a build for casual PvE.
Also, weapon choice does not matter for WW, as weapon passives do not carry over to WW form. So it pretty much does not matter if you are using Destro staff or Two Handed sword.

Not entirely true. While weapon passives are indeed irrelevant, weapon dmg does matter - and it it is higher when using melee weapons.

Oh, none. I just heavily main a magsorc who happened to contract lycanthropy accidentally and thought it could be fun to play with, for character flavor and funsies. I don't want to play WW on him in any serious capacity, and I wouldn't bring that into group content or anything. I'm guessing people that have asked this question in the past are in a similar situation, where they have just one character or a main they're really attached to.

Thanks for the insight! I guess I could grab a New Moon sword or something.

    Neat idea!

I've often wished werewolf was more accessible to magicka builds, especially since most ultimates scale of whichever resource is higher regardless of what damage type they do.

Fortunately is looks like ZOS is considering changing a lot of the old hybrid sets to be more in line with sets like NMA that give magicka and stamina based stats with each bonus, so there should be a lot more options soon!

    Sorcerer, dunmer

    2h sword sharpend/staff

    Dragonguard(or stuhn) /nma/kena
    5 heavy 1 medium 1 light

4 stuhn/malacath/nma/kena could also work I think crit will be a problem with first setup.

    infused cost reduction jewelry
    Sugar skulls bufffood
    22 into stam/magicka and 20 into health

Atleast looks good on paper ^^

Not really, most of the skills are optimised for stam and your light/heavy attacks that are a main source of Werewolf damage, scale from stam.

You can however now make a passable Werewolf tank, (by using the set that turns pounce into a taunt) and you have always been able to make a Werewolf "healer" or "support" character by slotting healing/support related sets.

Personally I would really love to try running 4 person content with x4 Werewolves... not many seem up for this kind of fun :(

Honestly, you can solo most 4-man content with a good WW build--but a full group is ridiculously fun. Werewolves have enough self healing and tankiness that you can usually get by going with 4-dps, but I've been curious to see how a WW tank would perform.

I'm glad that werewolf tanking is viable now! I know that was often requested.

Yeah, every once in a while ZOS throws us a bone instead of smacking us on the snout. :p
