"Siege of Cyrodiil Merit"..... what is considered a day?

So I turned in my Imperial City daily, and got my Siegemaster's Coffer, which contained a Light Tel Var Sack and a Siege of Cyrodiil Merit. After the daily reset (11pm PST for me), I went back to IC, got another daily quest, completed it, and when I turned it in I got the daily Siegemaster's Coffer, with a Light Tel Var Sack..... and nothing else.

My questions are, what does the game consider a "day" in this instance, and why can't everything (like the fence limit) be reset at the same time?

Had the same thought. I think it's a 24 hour timer from last opening. I'm just going to wait until the next 'day' reset time to open from now on.

It's a 20-hour timer. It used to be that the NPC would give you the Light Tel Var Sack if you turned in a quest before the 20-hour timer was up, and if they gave you a Siegemaster's Coffer you knew you were getting a merit. They very recently changed it so that you always get the Siegemaster's Coffer and you have to open it to find out if it contains the merit along with the tel var sack.

Since they made that change, what I'm uncertain on is whether the 20-hour timer is based on when you turn in the quest as always, or whether it's changed to be similar to the Cyrodiil Conquest board Gladiator's Rucksacks that operate on a 20-hour timer based on when you open the container.

If so, that's a terrible change, as I learned the hard way that if you open a container with a 20 hour timer item inside, that that item is gone forever if you close it back up. I tried that with the Mid-Year Boon boxes, saved a few up, and the standard bearer's tokens just vanished, even though it said (like the Siege of Cyrodiil Merits) that you could earn one once a day.

The concept of having to write down on a piece of paper what time you opened a 20 hour reward and calculating and waiting until the exact moment or "you snooze you lose" seems very short sighted, and engineered to set oneself up for failure.

Why can't there be consistency in in-game timers? They changed some event timers from 20 to 24 hours and synchronized them with the daily reset clock. Why should the Imperial City be any different? And why deliberately hide it inside a Siegemaster's Coffer that you can't tell what's inside until you open it, and if you open it at the wrong time you lose your item?

I still have half-a-dozen waiting to be cracked open after MyM, ‘cause I wasn’t sure if it was 20 or 24 hours.

Unfortunately, the "one per day" items will not be there. You are forced to open them every (20? 24?) hours, or lose the item.

It's the same as the Cyro ones. I recently obtained a coffer immediately after obtaining a merit, then opened it around 22 hours later and got another merit. So 20 hour timer based on when you open the coffer.

There's a timer again? After the Greymoor I was getting 6 merits a day. I know because I started farming for them before the update when there was only one a day available and later I just did all 6 daily quests at once and got 6 merits every day. The dailies reset at 8AM CEST here and I could get another 6 merits right after the reset even if I turned in the last ones right before it.

Interesting, thanks for confirming that. The positive side of this is that you can do a bunch of quests and stock up on coffers, and then open them at your leisure once a day.

I tried that with the mid year mayhem boxes, but the daily portion of it disappeared after a day. It’s use it within 20 or 24 hours or it’s gone forever.

It's a 20 hour timer. You can open one of these boxes every 20 hours for the merit. Same as the gladiator proof from cyrodiil.

I am not sure what you mean. So far I have received a Siege Merit in each Coffer... and I have opened one almost every day since the event ended.

So yesterday I did all 6 IC district dailies and got 6 Siegemaster's Coffers. I opened one and got a merit along with the tel var satchel.

Today I opened a second coffer (past the 20-hour timer), and got another merit. So can confirm, they're acting like the Cyro Gladiator Rucksacks in that the timer is based on when you open the container and has nothing to do with when you actually turn in the quest.

The downside to this is that you have to keep track of when you open the coffers, although the 20-hour timer gives you some leeway. The plus side is that you can run through as many dailies as you want and stock up on coffers, and then just coast for the rest of the week.

from my anecdotal evidence of personal experience? its a 20 hour timer from when you open the sack. in part, I think that cause there were days when I turned in multiple quests, saved the sacks for next day - and got the merit on the next day, despite not even going into IC.
