Wow, just noticed the proposed buff to war maiden, from 400 up to 600 spell damage for magic damage abilities. That could be really nice on magplar and potentially other classes. Magic damage: radiant oppression, blazing spear, purifying light, sweeps, elemental weapon, solar barrage, mystic orb. Basically, everything but wall and reflective light/vamp bane, sadly.

It even seems it might be decent for sorcs/petsorcs with their change to their pets being hybrid spell damage/magicka instead pure magicka now.

Yes that set really looks good on Magplar now. It was exciting when it was first introduced too but couldnt deliver it as it was on par with Julianos and Julianos also increases Wall of Elements, Vampires Bane and all healing.
Now it looks like it will be close to nerfed Siroria for MagPlar. Which is really good for PvE IMO. We will see more diversity in magicka classes. MagPlars can use War Maiden where DKs and Necros can use Elemental Succession.
I'm not sure about Stamina after Relequeen and Lokkestiz changes though. We will see.

Things that aren't magic damage include:
    • Light attacks, which are a big deal if you have a Maelstrom staff.
    • Wall of Elements.
    • Elemental damage glyphs.
    • Winter's Revenge (for Wardens)
    • Vampire's Bane/Reflective Light (for Templars).
    • Many proc sets.
    • Certain ultimate skills.

War Maiden will likely be useful despite all that, but not to a level that I'm actually excited about it.

Will it be affected by modifiers? AFAIR this sort of sets sucks due to certain scaling reasons with some passives. Is it fixed now?

Only (mainly) Light attacks and Wall of Elements will be unbuffed for MagPlars (This topic is about MagPlar anyway)
Glyphs and proc sets doesnt get boosted by spell damage anyway so it same as other sets (Siroria, Julianos, NMA, BSW etc.).
Vampire's Bane isnt really used on PvE MagPlar because its damage is quite low.
MagPlar's main ultimate is Crescent Sweep which deals magic damage.

Biggest problem I see is which set to frontbar with this? Siroria and WarMaiden can be used together but sustain will be abysmal on MagPlar. Only set comes to my mind that can work is Master Architect since it also will be buffed so it will give more players to Major Slayer.

Mix War Maiden with Soulshine for PvP gonna be lit.

Soulshine: This set now grants 369 Spell Damage for 5 seconds after activating a channel or cast time ability, rather than adding 450 Spell Damage to your channeled or cast time abilities.

Scathing will be better than soul shine I think. I’m with you though. That’s a lot of spell damage.

Tested this on the pts today. War maiden is great on templar, but mother’s sorrow is still a little better. THAT being said, the gap between the two sets is very small, and the possibility of a build utilizing war maiden to equal effectiveness as mother’s sorrow would be very possible.

Master Architect was nerfed if you use ultimates that cost less than 140. Crescent Sweep will only give you ~5 seconds uptime, so half compared to live.

Given it’s an overland set and easy/cheap to get War Maiden makes an excellent bridging set for players to use while farming the very top level sets.

Its lack of conditional damage elements means gameplay will be easier, so it should allow less experienced players to actually participate in basic trials and endgame content more easily while they refine their game. And more players doing trials or harder dungeons can only be a good thing.

And who knows, it might just bring down the cost of those Mother’s Sorrow bits a little.

Magblade, every single damage skill mine does = magic damage.

Which reminds me to go back to my magblade and update her since the vampire changes! (Vampire damage also = magic damage!)

Ive been running War Maiden on her for ages anyway, so such a buff fills me with a warm fuzzy feeling inside, its all tingly and nice.

Uh, pets are shock dmg mate. So no.

Even non pet sorc won't run it cause execute spammable (zap zap) is lightning too (zap zap) classes that do get good numbers from it are NB, plar, and maybe magden. But I am not impressed.

Front bar light attacks with Resto staff not Destro staff. Resto does Magic not Elemental damage and HA restores a lot of magicka. So Resto will benefit with War Maiden.

Also Templar has all front bar Magic damage spells.

Solar Barrage (can delegate Solar Barrage to back bar and use Combat Prayer if not healer around for Minor Berserk)
    Puncturing Sweep (bread and butter)
    Blazing Spear
    Oppression/Glory (execute)
Inner Light (major prophesy no morph).

    + Class Ultimate

On a Khajiit, MagPlar this would be a really serious set with something that gives a lot of crit chance to hit 70% mark.
