Non combat pets offering bonus

Any thoughts on non combat pets offering bonuses? I saw that there are a couple that offer inventory boost when purchased but I'm more talking about while summoned providing a bonus to health or Magicka recovery or something, giving a reason for people to collect them other than aesthetics.

They should not give in-game bonusses besides inventory. I have posted this on another thread about pets before, but I feel ALL pets should give +5 inventory slots. This would give players a reason to collect them, buy them, and farm for those in-game.

The longer you played the more inventory slots you'll have, the longer you played the more inventory slots you'll need. And balance-wise it does not matter if a player has 200 slots or a 1000. So +5 inventory slots per pet is a fitting and balanced bonus, in my opinion.

Wouldn't that just cause more imbalance? Everyone would just slot the most broken pet anyway.

Imagine hearing sound spam from so many people equipping the same pet in the cities. Lol.

Non-combat pets are often unsummoned for Trials anyway ... and you can’t have them in PvP.

    No to this idea.

    No.

If they provided an effect that directly impacted combat then they wouldn't really be "non combat" any more.

Alot of pugs already run with all kinds of pets and even have their merchant or banker out. Its annoying and distracting. Non combat pets should be auto unsummoned in group instances.

I would be fine with a pet that gives stat bonuses if it were a non-time-limited, in game item purchaseable for gold or earned via questing so it's available for everyone.

I'm opposed to making it a Crown Store power boost or locking it behind a time-limited grind like Indrik.

And like the pet itself, the bonus should be deactivated in PVP.

They are called non-combat for a reason.

Some nominal buffs like +5% gold/exp gain should suffice.

I'd rather opt for completely different option: make non-conbat pets/bankers/merchants killable by one shot from any damage (like deers or rabbits). With 3 minutes CD to resummon them

I think this would be a quite unpopular idea outside the realms of "non battle" bonuses.
I run with my Monkey from beta but say they ended up putting Magicka boost on him while i'm a Stam.....i would not be impressed.

Now that's not to say the idea isn't without potential and also a way for ZoS to get some extra cash.
Cash shop pet buffs you can buy from the shop and apply to any pet.

I’m all for this as long as I can get the bonus without having to buy a crappy pet.

And btw this absolutely would be pay to win

I love non-combat pets but linking them to a bonus of some sort is a hard defiinite NO, imvho. Many players can't stand the things, and making them significant to gameplay would be unfair to those people. And, you can guarantee they would become mandatory in some meta-build (I now have an image of every tank in the game followed by small white cats for some reason - amusing for about a day.)

So, love pets but no to bonuses with them.

It's ok to have things in the game simply for the hell of it.

I like pets and use them frequently, but I don't want to be required to use specific ones because of the bonuses they give, especially if it's tied to crown store purchases. I like being able to choose pets which suit the character and the situation, or maybe using none at all if I think that makes more sense.

My pet is ostensibly 'on my side', and I'd be good with a non-combat pet *looking* like they were participating in the fight for my survival, but in no way should they *contribute damage* in the fight.

    Just my opinion.

Long term this is a bad idea. There's already tons of textures to load just from people's dye-jobs and costumes. Then you want to add more types of pets plus process all the pets moving around.

First let's have a switch to turn off seeing/processing other people's pets. And maybe a switch to turn off all fancy costumes. Or more instancing so that busy cities have a sharper limit of how many people can be there.

If pets started giving combat bonuses it might actually become very important to be able to see other peoples pets (and see which pet goes with which player) so you know what you're facing and what your group has. Admittedly if this ever did come up the bonuses would probably be minor enough that it doesn't matter, but considering the confusion things like set bonuses can already cause it wouldn't surprise me if some people really want to know which pet everyone has.

I'd like that, but I'm not sure it would be worth the effort. I have one character concept I use in a lot of different games and whenever possible she has a big cat pet/familiar/summon with her. In ESO that role is filled by the senche-panther pet from the crown store and sometimes when I've been playing other games a lot I get distracted wondering why the cat isn't doing anything before remembering it's a non-combat pet here.

(Although in that specific case, considering that character is a warden, a better solution would be for ZOS to give us other animals as reskins for the existing bear pet, something players have asked for frequently.)

Allow me to clarify. They should never provide any sort of combat support (healing, crowd control, etc) but more like if you had a specific pet summoned it would provide you with a 10% boost to XP gain, or would make it more likely for you to find rare materials from crafting nodes. Or even having a summonable pet be a mobile crafting station. At maximum having them provide a small boost to health/magicka/stamina recovery, but never directly involved in combat. Kind of like how the pack rat and boar offer increases in your inventory.

•Maybe a illumination for dark dungeons
•grande size inventory space to be upgraded on the rat and boar
    •And so on....

@Llidoryc not so much stats but they still could be useful little buggers 🦀

I bring out my banker or merchant when I find out my bags are full and I need to make space. I don't always dismiss him/her if things have moved on and I have to quickly catch up.
