Tormentor Set pretty useless

The wording on the Tormentor set gives the illusion that it would make tank life a lot easier for trash pulls and allow potentially unconventional tanking in WW form. I've seen plenty of crying about how the AOE WW skill, Brutal Pounce, should apply as an AOE taunt yet only works on the primary target. While this gives players the option to tank bosses in WW form, that's basically the only use the set currently provides.

I play as a Stamsorc tank, and had a pretty good sized hard-on thinking I could AOE taunt using streak only to come to the realization the set doesn't respect Streak as a teleport and hence, no taunt (only after farming the set for a few hours). MAJOR *** killer.

So ZOS, what is the intended purpose of this set? On paper, it seems the set should make life easier for tanks doing trash pulls. It seems like every class SHOULD have some mechanic to proc this set. Was this set nerfed so that it could not be used in conjunction with Vanguard's Challenge? If you are afraid of abuse in pvp, then why not change mechanics for the set in pvp and allow us to have some functionality in pve? This is literally the only MMO out of a slew that I have encountered that does not allow tanks to have an AOE taunt in any form. THE ONLY ONE.

I still enjoy the game, but it would be great to have an AOE taunt mechanic, thanks.

There are more than 300 sets in the game. About 10-20% of them are actually useful for something, the rest are just fillers.

AoE taunt won't happen because as a tank you need to prioritize the targets. There's no point in taunting packs of trash. You taunt only the heavy hitters and stack the rest with your chains and keep them in place with immobilize abilities so the DDs could burn them in their AoEs.

tormentor allows for pretty cool builds such as wwolf tanks or look at xynodes stamsorc for pvp that uses it...

i only hate the first bonuses...would be better if it gave max health / stam

When the set was modified, thay specifically said in the notes that it does NOT work with "blinks" like Streak. Since it does not have a "main target" and ZOS does not want AOE taunt.

And to be honest, i and most tanks i know do not want also, can tank with the tools we got already, taunt the main target and the big hitters, most trash melts fast anyways.

It is now a fun set imo and has very much use for fun tank builds, where can just put that on and pretty much charge/leap around taunting everything needed fast and have DPS gear on or a "healtank" setup with 3 dps. Works and is fun.

I`m pairing it with BRP SnB that gives cheaper Shield Charge and then after that next SnB skill for free (i use Heroic Slash for Maim and ulti gen, free Heroic Slash is nice), then can have other 5p set like Clever Alchemist that has both HP, and damage when chugs them potions. 40k+ hp on Imperial. Quite enough and has some nice bursty windows too, for a "tank". Just pop Potion when ultimate ready and enjoy burning bosses with your group and not just standing around and taunting things. Vet DLC dungeons go all smooth and fast. :)

You need to try the set on a Templar with Explosive Charge. Even though the true AoE taunt you get is basically not needed for any fights in the game, it's a lot of fun watching everything in sight be actively taunted. I found out that the Untaunted add-on has a limit to how many active taunts it displays. It's 14. You can easily taunt more targets than that, and very cheaply, with a Tormentor Templar.

Unfortunately, if you taunt absolutely everything around you in harder content like vet DLC dungeons and vet trials, you will very likely end up dead. Most mobs don't hit all that hard, but it hurts getting pummeled by dozens of them at once.

Like so many other sets in the game, Tormentor is a niche set, but it has its use, and it's fun.

AOE taunt waters down the taking role, sorry.
