Attunable NPCs for Housing

I posted this idea in another thread today ... after a forum-goer wished to have Darien available for the Homestead character pathing coming soon in Update 27.

Since ZOS is now "down the path" of NPCs in our homes (pun intended): Would "attunable" NPCs be possible in the game?

The idea is very similar to attunable 5-piece set crafting stations.

You buy a generic NPC figurine in the game and then take it to any NPC in the game world and "copy" it over for use in Homestead.

The figurine could be purchased in a number of ways in the game world ... in gold, with writs from the Master Writ vendor, through Antiquities, through AP in PvP. Those could all be options.

In addition to the physical appearance of the NPC, the attunable copy would also carry over the NPCs dialogue and mannerisms in the game world. Maybe not, though, the direct dialogue through the UI such as quests.

Being able to attune any NPC in the world would be a boon for player housing (and potential for a major new feature for the ZOS Housing Team).

Also, for fun -- which NPC or NPCs would you "attune"? ;)

As neat as this idea is and I do like it; I prefer the idea of NPCs willingly joining us from our adventures. People we've helped or quested with wanting to come along with us adds far more life into the world than I think copying over/attuning NPCs would. After all it would make little sense to have Razum-dar in our homes when he is just exceedingly busy being Queen Ayrenns personal Sherlock Holmes.

I think itd be nice if we could have select collectible NPCs qualify as vendors; maybe a crafting one for example so that you can buy style stones anytime you want from the comfort of your home. Enchanters so you can buy any of the basic enchanting stones. Etc.

I do have quite a few speculative questions about this new feature that I hope get answered Monday.

I rather like your idea, although I'd be more pleased to be able to recreate my own alts as NPC house guests in some fashion. With some dialog options.

They have a sort of version of your suggestion already in the form of the very expensive "Sir Cadwell" portal. Only personal taste on my part, but I'd only take that thing if it was free.

But I do like your idea. Be fun to have Raz or M'aiq as a "house guest", or a useful vendor of some kind. Rather have my own alts (somehow), but that's just me.

If this were possible I would love it for all the customization and roleplay it would add. It's also (in my opinion) a fair compromise to the people who want followers or romanceable companions - we still get the character to interact with, but without the immersion breaking experience of having everyone running around with their own personal Raz, Darien, Naryu etc. in the open world.

As for which ones I want, I'll take a Darien 😉 And probably a few other favorites like Gwendis, Revus, Valsirenn, and more I'm forgetting off the top of my head.

I'd also be happy with a chef and a bard, which is what it sounds like we're more likely to get with this update so I hope I can at least have those.

i wonder how they would work. Would they just randomly show up at your door, walk in and talk trash about Molag Bal for 5 minutes then leave or would they stay

I wouldn’t mind a system similar to the Undaunted Busts/Trophies - so when you complete a dungeon or quest, you get access to that NPC as a guest.

Might be tricky doing voice work for a lot of them though. I can’t imagine they have that much generic banter written.

But my werewolf would very much like Adonatus Varian and Jakarn to both swing by the apartment from time to time.

Sotha Sil, Almalexia and Vivec, maybe?

I don't see them doing this as it could cause some weird lore issues when someone has died during a storylines and yet is somehow still visiting peoples houses.

Also, there is the case I suggested above where an unusual number of powerful people turn up. Ayrenn, Jorunn and Emeric would make fun guests. But it would be worth starting a new alt to capture Sheogorath though...

Liiiiittle too much. The idea I think that's more likely is being able to give some purchased guests personalities that you have purchased. Like duchess, or happy, or treasure hunter. @R_k , feel free to take credit for said idea.

What about some kind of furniture assignment tool that has a “rotating cast” of visitors based on what quests you’ve completed?

Sort of like the pathing feature, but you click on a chair you’ve placed - and whenever you visit your house, there’s a random chance for a NPC you’ve helped to be visiting your house?

...But really, I just want Jakarn... at least for starters.

Rigurt is in fact not a Nord but a whole host of daedra who have taken on similar visage and personality to mess around with mortals. One of them made a few mistakes in the transition and became Stuga.

I think it could be fun. Raynor, Kireth, Revus -> Dunmer scholar/researcher meeting ;) And a few random guards.

Shouldn't be lore-breaking or unrealistic, though. I don't think Vivec would hang out in some shabby inn room all day. Especially not together with the other Tribunal Gods and Darien.

I would like regular NPCs such as:

    - mages guild member
    - fighter's guild member
    - farmer
    - blacksmith
    - townsfolk
    - noble
    - etc

Hey yeah. You all got me thinking. I'd like to buy attackable NPC's who randomly show up in your house.

Particularly Pacrooti. Edit: That would be a moving Pacrooti target dummy wouldn't it? Should be possible.
