[Request] Having our alt characters in our Homes with the new NPC pathing feature

In light of the new Housing character pathing feature, would it be possible to allow us to use our own characters (whom we are not currently logged on to) as NPCs? Or to allow us to create our own NPC via the character editor?

Definitely excited to finally have a home with NPCs moving around everywhere :) have been waiting for a feature like this to be added to Housing for a long time!

That would be amazing, especially being able to create our own NPCs. Doubt we could though, would be a bit complicated choosing their outfits maybe? But I'd love to be able to make my own housecarl.

Housecarls and npcs would be great. I'd like to assign my characters to different houses and when logged on (with a different character) see the assigned character in their home.

I am not speaking against the idea, just bringing up two points that could hinder the idea.,

The first point is that the idea would be an additional load on resources since the game now has to track what characters (or decorations) will actually appear on the home. AFAIK all furnishings are static in they will always appear in the home. Even the pathing does not change this by any measure.

The second point is players have asked for this before but have also suggested we should be able to access the inventory in said characters were not logged into but were placed into the home as furnishings when we are not logged into them. If Zos were interested in the idea proposed by the OP this point might give them pause knowing that players will think Zos was to lazy to make it work well.

Anyhow, for those that decorate the house it would be a good idea and I would say yes as long as it does not impact server performance.

Sounds too complicated and resource demanding.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

While I think that might be too complicated - it shouldn't be that hard to just copy the char's physical appearance and make that "copy" walk around inside the house a bit?

This would be super cool! I really wish you could mark individual primary houses per character but this is another cool way to specify this house belongs to xyz and not a random community of characters only bound by the fact I play them haha.

Even if they could just be "cloned" and silent at a point in time and you had to choose when to update their model, it would still be a fun feature.

Idea sounds great. Technical Challenges would kill it. First would be keeping up with the changes we make to our characters as any character based NPC would have to be a snapshot. Then, figuring out a way to create a database that could both store all the combos and not result in minutes of load screens. Then having to render all the individual pieces of gear and cosmetics. Which is one reason why we have Player Visitor limits.

Better would be to have a limited number of outfits we could dress our NPCs with. Outfits are typically one Database Entry. And, also, being one object are easier to render and shadow.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I want to be able to give and obtain not only "visitor" permissions but "pathing guest" permissions (and also I want "me" to disapear if I go to a friend's house where "I" am "pathing").
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

My characters each have their own home, where I park them when I log out. I'd like my other characters to find them asleep on the bed if they visit. No interaction needed, no pathing required.
