I hate it when people leave the bear somewhere like this. The all time most annoying I had was someone managed to block a whole wayshrine with the bear, no matter how you tried to go through.

Oh I hope they'll do something about it. I remember having to talk to an NPC who had decided to sit directly in my bear's belly and the slow moving animal didn't move until I was a good few meters away. So sometimes the bear annoys the wardens too

A simple dismiss button or something would be nice

You can unsummon it by going under your character sheet, scrolling down to the active effects, and remove it from there.

It's so weird because there's NO functionality to select a bear as a target with the same button that you need to open chests, talk to NPCs, or use crafting tables? So like why does it BLOCK it when you can't use E on a bear?

All they need is a few wardens at each undaunted NPC for about 3 days straight and ZOS might actually do something about this issue. It's only a minor issue because someone hasn't decided to basically DDOS certain NPC's in the game yet.

Someone "sniped" your regular kiosk? Have a few bears afk there.
Want to shut down the anniversary event? A few bears on the chef NPC that gives the cake.
Park a bear on the 100k coin in Solitude just for kicks so people can't pick up the lead.

These are all things that can be done currently due to the disastrous way bears block interactions. ZOS, wake up and fix the issue before it becomes a much larger issue.

Maybe they could just finally give us a wolf/senche/guar/whatever skin for the bear.... All of which are smaller and would be slightly less annoying?

I did this the other day, the phone rang and when I came back people had been unable to interact with Razum Dar, and well, the language was a bit ripe. I was so embarassed lol. I usually try to make sure that the bear is positioned away from anything interactable or dismiss when in bank/crafting area, but it happens. This is partly why I don't play my Warden that often. I agree that this is something that should have been sorted out long ago.

If you are going to go AFK do everybody a favor and either put your pet away or step away from anything another player may wish to interact with. Isn't that difficult to take two steps to the right before going to grab a snack.

    Hahaha, oh that's unfortunate.

Hey, guys, did you know assistants can be a problem, too? A couple of times I've stepped into the little Rimmen bank and found an Ezabi sitting at the door. For some reason, she sticks right to it, and for some reason, if you spawn through the door next to her, you get stuck, too. Can't go in, can't go back. I ported to my house to escape! So if I have one of the cats out and I step into a building I always try to make sure they're nowhere near the door.

I completely agree. What's even worse is they have had areas that dismount you from your mounts automatically since release, but yet here we are years in and combat pets aren't automatically disbanded when near areas of interaction.

Adding to that, if they leave said areas, then auto-respawn their combat pet if it was out.

Another option, make combat pets non-interacting altogether meaning they cannot block anything that requires interaction in the first place. This is not a problem with non-combat pets as far as I'm aware, so maybe use a similar technical fix for the latter?

The problem is even worse when we have events or areas where multiple players are trying to interact with the same object. One combat pet in the way and no one can do anything.

Why is this still a problem years on? @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom PLEASE pass this on to the appropriate teams and fix this major problem!

Well, you can't access the guild bank/store from the portable bankers. So they might have needed that.

Bears are worse. Twilights are annoying, but they cannot prevent you from using doors/talking to quest npcs/etc.

The bear has a tendency to hide between my legs. They did this thing a few updates back. The bear locates right on top of the character when feeling insecure. I think ZOS does this because they know it is a safe place to put it. That needs to stop. Find a spot near the character. Pets should never touch the character and should definitely never take the same exact spot.

Miss Flappy Wings can block interactions, but she does it intermittently. I find that more annoying, even without with the wings flapping through the scene when talking to NPCs. Again, ZOS needs to find a place near the character, preferably well away from the character, for the pets. At all times.

    1) Pets crowd the characters. Move the pets away from the characters.
    2) Pets that cannot be targeted block things that can be targeted. Allow players to interact with anything behind the pet as if the pet was not there.

Hmm... I think the writ crafting addon can automatically desummon your pets when you activate a crafting station. They could make it so the pets are auto-dismissed when you talk to an npc or start crafting something. Or when you enter a town.

Sometimes a person doesn't have the luxury of dismissing their pets or stepping away from interactable things. If an issue comes up irl that requires immediate attention then there's a good chance a person's mind is going to be on that issue and not moving their character or something.

That said, ZOS really should do something about pets blocking interactions. It's been brought up time and time again, without any sort of acknowledge that it is indeed a problem and needs to be fixed somehow. The easiest solution (I imagine) would be to auto-dismiss pets when they come within certain areas, like how mounts do.

For these unlikely situations, I'd actually rather see the players reported and banned. Players like that can find other ways to grief people, not just roll wardens and summon their bears.

THIS. OMG I love this idea. Makes sense too, summoning Daedra is frowned upon by pretty much all major Tamrielic societies, so it would make sense that summoning them in cities would be a crime. Bears, obviously not daedra, but clearly very dangerous beasts, should be subject to that same treatment.

    To unsummon:

Character, scroll down, highlight pet icon, click on remove effect.

Not very practicable but works and I agree, all summoned pets should be unsummoned automatically by default when entering in cities.
