Make the soil required a byproduct of mining
Make the seeds required a byproduct of gathering herbs/flowers
Make fertiliser a byproduct of fishing
Make the gardening plots a craftable thing with fancier styles a dungeon/WB drop. Larger homes = larger plots?
The quality of soil and fertiliser affects growth time/amount gathering.
Heck, even add in a new gardening skill line! And if they don't have a Greenfingers achievement title then don't even bother.

These are all smart ideas. It makes gardening an activity, and also alleviates any potential concerns people might have about mats being too "easy" to acquire. It could be lucrative for guild shop owners, if the gardening supplies are something that can be reasonably farmed for and stockpiled.
Of course, I'd feel awful if my crops withered. I just had to say goodbye to a spider plant that decided to quit on me. I failed it.
It would be a fun feature, and no - it would not "ruin economy" or anything. Just make it a tray with pots, as a special furnishing or whatever, so that you can't have more than a few, and also set the limit to plants you can grow to like 4 or so every day.
No one complains about economy being ruined when I pick up plants/nodes and a treasure chest in the same spot (almost) every day, when leaving my house - and no one complains about me being able to step out at the back of my house to two lake fishing holes whenever I want. It's called "benefits" I guess. Right, it's nothing big - but a small detail that makes the game more fun and immersive.
If such a "Tray of growing pots" became real, we could either farm for a golden lead, for a craftable furnishing to make it; or perhaps buy it with vouchers at the master writ vendor. Once upon a time some people said crafting stations in our homes would make cities ghost towns, and that chests in our homes would be a bad thing - no one believes that now.
You can still get a lot more plants from just running around for a little bit, from buying Tel-Var satchels, and from Alchemy Surveys. It wouldn't be a problem in any way, some reagents are not even plants, typically even the most expensive ones.

where is your house? It sounds very pleasant.

Very cozy! It's the Ald Velothi Harbor House in Vvardenfell. Now my daily treasure chest will be gone...
I would love to see this. I don't think anyone is suggesting never ending harvestables that will devalue actual gathering. I would expect it to be limited in some way such as a timer between uses or a daily limit for each account, etc.
Even if they can't make gardens happen, I'd like to see some furnishing items based on the plants. I believe someone suggested making an achievement vendor version based on related achievements once and I thought that was a nice idea. There are so many interesting models that would make great additions. I want Columbine the most personally. So pretty.
