Let Us Grow Herbs in our Home!

There has never been an alchemy hireling so as a possible replacement perhaps we could have our own gardens? If that's not possible, could we at least get a Nirnroot plant at the luxury vendor? I love the sound it makes.

Any thoughts or ideas? Discuss!

Farming with housing would be amazing. I wouldnt do it, but it would drop the price of mats 10 fold and I'd be able to make cheap potions and poisons all day long.

+1 would love a gardening mechanic.

Make the soil required a byproduct of mining
Make the seeds required a byproduct of gathering herbs/flowers
Make fertiliser a byproduct of fishing
Make the gardening plots a craftable thing with fancier styles a dungeon/WB drop. Larger homes = larger plots?

The quality of soil and fertiliser affects growth time/amount gathering.

Heck, even add in a new gardening skill line! And if they don't have a Greenfingers achievement title then don't even bother.

Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll!

This can be taken awhole wrong direction you see, guild wars 2 has this option where you can put farming nodes in your house and can harvest them once a day. However you pay like 200 dollars in microtransactions to get the majority of that.

If they added it with a chapter like antiquites came with Greymoor, a gardening like skillline that'd be quite interesting.
However I'd assume it would devalue resources alot tho I dont have a idea how much impact a massive income of resources like this would do we'd need more statistics on the resources that are shoved into the game and taken out every day.

These are all smart ideas. It makes gardening an activity, and also alleviates any potential concerns people might have about mats being too "easy" to acquire. It could be lucrative for guild shop owners, if the gardening supplies are something that can be reasonably farmed for and stockpiled.

Of course, I'd feel awful if my crops withered. I just had to say goodbye to a spider plant that decided to quit on me. I failed it. :(

It would be a fun feature, and no - it would not "ruin economy" or anything. Just make it a tray with pots, as a special furnishing or whatever, so that you can't have more than a few, and also set the limit to plants you can grow to like 4 or so every day.

No one complains about economy being ruined when I pick up plants/nodes and a treasure chest in the same spot (almost) every day, when leaving my house - and no one complains about me being able to step out at the back of my house to two lake fishing holes whenever I want. It's called "benefits" I guess. Right, it's nothing big - but a small detail that makes the game more fun and immersive.

If such a "Tray of growing pots" became real, we could either farm for a golden lead, for a craftable furnishing to make it; or perhaps buy it with vouchers at the master writ vendor. Once upon a time some people said crafting stations in our homes would make cities ghost towns, and that chests in our homes would be a bad thing - no one believes that now.

You can still get a lot more plants from just running around for a little bit, from buying Tel-Var satchels, and from Alchemy Surveys. It wouldn't be a problem in any way, some reagents are not even plants, typically even the most expensive ones.

Perhaps you need to regularly attend to your crops to avoid them withering/being eaten by bugs. The byproduct of tending them could be fishing baits/alchemical items for new pots?

Also, the cynic in me thinks it would open up a new line of Crown Store items like cute little gardening outfits or garden-related sets.

Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll!

I don't see any reason not to have decorative instances (no harvesting) of the alchemical plants as achievement furnishings for learning all four traits.

I would love to see this. I don't think anyone is suggesting never ending harvestables that will devalue actual gathering. I would expect it to be limited in some way such as a timer between uses or a daily limit for each account, etc.

Even if they can't make gardens happen, I'd like to see some furnishing items based on the plants. I believe someone suggested making an achievement vendor version based on related achievements once and I thought that was a nice idea. There are so many interesting models that would make great additions. I want Columbine the most personally. So pretty.

This sounds like an amazing idea- it would be especially cool if special homes were put on sale (for gold, or earned through achievements involving crafting and gathering) that had space for farming/tilled fields where herbs could be grown. Or better yet place able tilled fields so you could design your own growing space. I'd love to have planters and other things too!

Sounds like someone wants to grow their own moon sugar instead of having to buy it. :)

Seriously though, the ONLY think ZOS should be working on right now are performance improvements. All content should be put on hold until the current content can be made to work smoothly and relatively bug free. There will always be some bugs, but ZOS has let ESO become truly unique when it comes to the quantity and the quality of the bugs...and their failure to fix most of them.

That would be awesome if you could buy chunks of fertile soil to put in your greenhouse so you can spawn alchemy ingredients in your house. Make the fertile soil expensive so that it would be difficult to exploit, or limit the number you can place in a large house to a very small number (maybe enough to fit in the greenhouse, and that's it). It would be totally RNG as to what spawns, but every little bit helps.

How do we intend to prevent this being exploitable by bots?

Each node is gatherable once per day per account (like in GW2)

There is a limited number of node types and each node can only be placed once. So you could have a jute node, and an ancestor silk node, but you couldn't put the ancestor silk node in each of your houses.

Bring back the greenhouse from Skyrim Hearthfire. Only accessible by the homeowner. Put a timer on the growth for 12 or 24 hours. Make it so you can only grow one node of each thing so someone can't do a corn flower plantation.

Think this is a pretty decent idea.
