So did the whole email verification things a while back for the free pet
finally got redeem code and followed instructions on how to use it but i get a message saying that the code has already been use. wtf, its
as if it all was scam

Any codes you get from promos etc should be applied automatically and you do not have to use the code in the email

This has been the case all along. However, I never received my pet. Not that I actually use them, but I still collect them. Yes, I know that is just plain odd.

Well... the point of this was to sign people up for marketing communications, and by doing so, the player gets a pet. It would seem that the thing for them to do is send an email with the pet code in it. It is an easy way to confirm that you are receiving them.

I have my email verified since 2014, and the "receive promotional emails" thingy was ticked.

No email with code or in-game mail about the pet.

Probably just me never ever visiting ingame Crown Store if I can avoid it, but I could not find any obvious ingame Crown store "Redeem Reward Code" to click. Is it really there somewhere? (PC not Steam.) I just stuffed it in Redeem code @ https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/users/account instead.

I heard tell yesterday that the in-game code redemption system won't work for this promotion; you have to do it
through the website.

Agree it should have been automatically applied.

You are right, just went to the article to have more info about it and saw at the very end: "We will email a code for the Infernium Dwarven Spiderling pet during the month of July, so keep an eye on your inbox".

Fair enough! As you noted, I'm sure these will be sent out in a staggered manner throughout July. Just wanted to make sure people knew where to check in case they'd already received it but not yet realised!

I got my code and I had "receive news about new events and promotions" ticked and "ZeniMax ads on other sites" unticked.

(Also using ad and script blockers so I generally see no ads.)
