Weird question

Is there any way knowing what are the names of your characters without logging into the game?

I'm playing another game and want to use a character's name I used for ESO

P.S.
I don't have access to my account and can't check what names my characters have

Yes. Have them embroidered on your underwear.

Ask a weird question, get a weird answer. :p

Seriously though, I don't think there's a way outside of writing them down somewhere or just remembering what they are.

If I had for any reason a problem like you, I would open a config file of my add-ons.
There are a lot of add-ons which store the config by char and have therefore the names inside.

Ouch, yeah, that does limit your options. I think you're just left with logging in to get the info then.

While I agree that the comment does come off as unnecessarily aggressive and could have been worded differently, the general point made is not wrong. It's exactly what I was thinking as well when I read the OP. Why would someone be so intent on using a particular name again, when they can't even remember that name? If I like a name so much that I want to reuse it, then I'd know what it was, wouldn't I? And if I can't even remember what I named my characters why would I want to reuse one of their names? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either.

Maybe some more coffee, @Lysette ? Or maybe less coffee.......?

I love that the irony of you posting (several times) on a thread you basically said was a pointless waste of time, is completely lost on you.

@Chelister sadly there is no way to do what you want to do if you're a console player, other than maybe writing the character names down. On PC @Zabagad 's solution is an excellent one and the only way I can find to locate a char name within actually logging into the game.

Yeah, that was my idea behind it - that it came out as aggressive was not my intend with it at all.

Well, if someone posts a thread about this here, I think it's okay to ask "why" out of curiosity, even if, technically, it's none of anyone's business. It would be pretty problematic to ever have a discussion about anything here, if no one could ask stuff anymore, just because it's none of their business. ;)
Also yes, memory problems, as dumb as that may sound, didn't really occur to me, since for some reason I can remember every last character name I ever invented in pretty much every game I ever played. No idea why. So, yeah, that's a valid reason then, I concur.

I love this thread so far. I hope you find your character names. Maybe one of them was "Baits-the-Room"

Anyone in your guild or friends' list (if you can contact them out of game) can see the name of the last character you logged in as.

Other than that, just submit a support ticket and ask? I'm sure they can help out since they can access character names, just might have to push past a copy+pasted response first

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to do that on consoles. On PC you could check the config files, or for some games there's websites which use the API to give you access to info on your account outside of the game (either official ones or fan sites), but of course none of that works on consoles because you can't extract info like that.

Unless you've previously written them down somewhere, or taken screenshots where their name is shown, I think your only option is to log into the game and check.

For the future, @Chelister, once you get back into ESO, you might consider doing as I do: I have spreadsheets of all my characters on both accounts, both NA and EU PC servers. In fact, I still have spreadsheets of all my WoW and RIFT characters.

So far I've never duplicated any of the names - and across the three games that totals 178 characters. Each character I create is his or her own person....

If you have addons installed (I don't know if this file exists when you never installed addons/don't have addons installed) you can find your Character names in:
    PC > My Documents > Elder Scrolls Online > Live > AddOnSettings.txt

Character names are shown in the file starting with: "#EU Megaserver-" (or "NA Megaserver-" when you are on NA server).

An example of a character in my file:
    #EU Megaserver-Argorn Nightsky

EDIT: I don't know how to find it when you are a console player. But this may be useful for PC players to know.

This is a weird thread now, thus floppy earths are a valid measurement for the size of the game.
