Scrying bug

After investing a number of points into the Scrying skill tree, I become unable to swap weapons. My character sheet says 'unable to swap weapons in current state'.

Once this happens, the only way to get out of this 'state' is to spend 20k and remove several skill points in the scrying line.

Ok the situation has actually deteriorated now to the point that I lost the Scry ability itself somehow.

When you say you have lost the scry ability itself are you getting this same error message as in this post?

Yup same thing as far as I can tell.





However I will mention that in my case, removing all skill points from Excavation and Scrying restores the ability. Of course, I am out about 100k gold doing this, which is just lovely... and Im also going to have to put Scrying on hold till this is ever fixed which will likely result in all my leads expiring.

Oh yeah and my Trowel skill seems permanently fubar. It says its unlocked but its not and try to reset it doesnt do anything. It shows the points being removed by when I finish respeccing its back again but cant actually be used at an excavation site

Do you also have issues with reviving other players? I have the issue where it shows the "hold menu button for revive". You do so, but nothing happens. I've held the button for a good minute to see if it is just the animation that doesn't come up but is still not reviving.

As it looks like we have all the same issues other than this I think its worth checking if it's a cross platform bug (as it looks like you're on PC and I'm on Xbox)

Looks like there is a patch update on Tuesday, so fingers crossed.

Looks like there is a patch update on Tuesday, so fingers crossed.

I dont think the patch did anything and I still havent been contacted by anyone here or through the ticket I submitted.

I was wondering though, is your character a vampire or werewolf? I am a vampire and someone suggested getting cured might fix the issue.

I am a werewolf. Have been thinking about becoming a vampire at some point anyway but apparently that's buggy at the moment so I'm holding off. Would be interesting to see if that cures it.

Another thing I thought could be useful info, what race / class / alliance are you? Wondering if this could be unique to one of those. I am a Nord, Dragonknight, was originally EP but changed to AD. The problems started when I was EP.

I've just been to the shrine of arkay to stop being a werewolf. 600 odd gold, much better than the 20,050 gold for the shrine of stendarr. The missing skills have magically come back except for the "Scry" skill. I also had a spare skill point after disabling werewolf, so was able to re-enable the skill without it spending a point. I opened up the scrying ability from the journal on a green lead I had purchased from the merchant in Grahtwood, and it said "Skill not unlocked". Back to square one I suppose. Interesting thought though...

I am a Wood Elf, Vampire Necromancer in EP.

Hmm yeah that is something I guess. Not the answer we were hoping for though.

Alright well I took my own advice about curing vampirism and it seems to be working so far..

Order of operations was:


1. Reset my skills in order to remove all points in Scrying and Excavation. Doing this gave me back my baseline Scry ability and fixed my inability to swap weapons. Note I didn't touch my Vampire skills.

2. Get cured of Vampirism.

3. At this point I tested filling out my Scrying and Excavation skilltrees and none of the skills glitched out and I could still swap my weapons.

4. I decided to test a step further and became a werewolf and my Antiquities skills still function as expected and I am still able to swap weapons.


So yeah, thats where I am right now. At this point I am going to wait till I get to 10 in both Scry and Excavation before becoming a vampire again and see what happens then. Hopefully getting cured cleared whatever bug my character had.


Update: So after spending skill points to unlock some 1handed weapon abilities, my character cant bar swap anymore.
