Werewolf bug?

Minerthreat
Found some werewolves in Reapers March and let them attack me. I used all my soul gems and healing items and they attacked, maimed and killed me for about a half hour until the sun came up and they despawned. I didn't get infected. Is the RNG that bad or are they trying to force people to buy shortcuts on the crown store?

If you ask in zc in reapers march, bangkorai, and the rift there should be someone able to bite you. As for what happened with you? I've no idea, sorry.

You can get "infected" at the WW "shrine" locations (The Rift, Bangkorai, Reapers March) after being intentionally bitten by another player with the ability to turn you, after which you have to complete the associated quest by traveling through the shrine. Just being bitten by WW NPCs over and over won't make you a WW. I've heard that there is a quest line through which WW can be obtained, but not sure. Infection by another player is a quick guarantee though.

Special ww or bloodiends spawn on several ingame nights after midnight about every week in Reaper's March, The Rift and Bangkorar, those can infect player who is not already ww/vampire. (Just aggro em, let em hit you, run away and check your character status.) For player bite ask in zone chat at Bankorai or The Rift. You still have to do the quest at ww shrine / vampire altar to become ww/vampire.

Only very specific spawns in the overworld, and only during a certain moon cycle will let you get infected naturally in the wild.
There was a spawn over by the Autumn's Gate house that I once got a bite from but I've yet to see another natural spawn in a long long time.
There's a few maps you can find online that'll show you exactly where the special spawns occur.

Easiest way like said above is to find another player to bite you, then if you want the full storyline you can go to the main city in Bangkorai, Riften, or Rawl'ka to find Thoreki and she'll give you the storyline version that lets you find the packmaster and get a bit more story.

Are you absolutely sure you're not infected?
There isn't a big sign, or alert sound that lets you know that it has happened.
It will show up as one of your buffs or debuffs (if you have them visible), and if you press 'C' to look at your Character Sheet, it will be listed down at the bottom, under your attributes, stating that you have been scratched by a werewolf.

Depending on the alliance of your character, you can also go to Rawl'Kha, Riften, or Evermore and if you see an NPC named Thoreki, with a green quest arrow over her head, that will be a sign that you are infected.
Or if you find the Werewolf Shrine associated with your alliance, in Reaper's March, the Rift, or Bangkorai, there will be a green quest arrow at the Shrine, if you are infected.
(you will also see that arrow right after being bitten by a player at one of the shrines.)

I'm only questioning it because if they despawned when the sun came up, and you were in Reaper's March, and it was one of the three nights around the full moon, then there's a very good chance that WAS a group of "Bite Night" werewolves.
There is no RNG involved if it was a group of infectors. All it takes is a single hit from one of them.

It could also be a bug, but I encountered a group of werewolves on a proper night in the Rift this week, and they infected me, so if it is a bug, then it isn't universal.

Thank you all for your input. I was asking in Zone but I work nights and its generally quiet when I play on weekdays typically 3-5am. I'm positive it was the right group. I might just have to wait until the weekend to get a bite when I can play during a more active time.
