Daggerfall Covenant Alliance/Questline Question

Hi All!

This may seem like a silly question but it's been killing me as I've been playing one of the main questlines lately.

My character is a Breton and my alliance is with the Daggerfall Covenant. However, as I've been playing one of the main storylines (City Under Siege, all the quests that come before it, etc) I can't help but NOT for the life of me understand...

Why am I in these quests, fighting off and defending cities from the Daggerfall Covenant while my alliance is WITH the Daggerfall Covenant?! I don't get why I'm killing Bretons and Orcs, "Covenant" Soldiers, while I myself am part of the Covenant Alliance?

I am so confused.. finishing the quests for the sake of it, to follow the main plotlines etc, but racking my brain trying to understand...

I think you're in Stonefalls which is an Ebonheart Pact zone. You should go to Stros M'kai or Glenumbra for Daggerfall quest lines.

The other thing would be if you had Any Race, Any Alliance. Then you could have joined the Pact with a Breton.

It can be very confusing for new players but the short answer is you're currently playing the wrong questline.

The correct order for the DC story is Stros M'kai -> Betnikh -> Glenumbra -> Stormhaven -> Rivenspire -> Alik'r -> Bangkorai -> Coldharbour.

If you do the main questline in order, beginning with the quest that gets you killed by Mannimarco and sent to Coldharbour, it will take you through the DC zones first-- Stros M'Kai and Betnikh (which are the two "starter zones" for the DC alliance), then Glenumbra, Stormhaven, Rivenspire, Alik'r Desert, and Bangkorai, in that order, after which you'll go to Coldharbour to fight the "final showdown" with Molag Bal.

After that you'll be offered the opportunity to do "Cadwell's Silver" and "Cadwell's Gold" questlines, which take you through the AD (silver) and EP (gold) zones and questlines as though you had been an AD and EP player. But since you can travel around Tamriel more or less at will, you can actually do any quest in any zone in (I think) any order, which can get confusing.
