Aggro Dump Skill?

Suppose every Class has at least one skill that also functions as an aggro dump -- using it starts to rapidly reduce your aggro over the duration of the skill.
- This could be a lite substitute for not having area taunt
- If you are in a Tank Role in a group activity, that aggro dump does nothing -- so you can't accidentally let someone else pick up aggro on the boss if you actually want to use that skill.

This would NOT need to be a new skill, just a function added to an existing skill.

It would not work. The agro table does not work like it does in some of the other MMORPGs.

In other words, if the tank wants someone else to take agro on the boss they need to have that player taunt the boss.

I'm a little confused. Tanks can already do a pseudo-AOE taunt by hitting mob packs with an AOE to start off the fight. Is this supposed to help DDs and healers who get stuck with aggro?

If so, I have two concerns.
    1. ZOS expects DDs and healers to be able to deal with aggro from at least some mobs. That's why we don't have a true AOE taunt skill or auto-threat. It's also a major factor in the difficulty of group content. This design factor really can't be changed without overhauling a whole heap of things.
    2. Having played healers in groups with fake tanks, being able to shed aggro isn't that useful on its own. Lots of time, I wanted aggro on my healer because at least I could tank it, unlike my Squishy McSquisherson DD or the scared new guy who didn't know what to do with the boss up in his face. If we are ever going to get the ability to shed aggro, I'd like to be able to redirect it to the assigned tank role. I'll admit that has massive trolling potential, but it would be a rather fun way to deal with fake tanks.

Hehehehe, I like it. In a 4-man, with a single tank, I don't even see the trolling potential. If you could "tell" the adds to seek out the designated tank in the wilderness of the last vDSA round, it sure would make that fight a whole lot easier.

I remember everquest 2 had that. It's like an anti taunt. It makes you look less threatening/angering or whatever. So if a healer starts getting attacked by adds they can cast it and the adds will seek the next in line that looks attractive to attack. In Everquest 2 those types of skills were called emergencies and had really long cooldowns.
