Is there a way to chech on the exact amount of ap I have earned so far or is it a rough guess of your rank

If you are on pc there are add-ons that help like ap meter.

You can deposit before starting your pvp. Then everything you've made is from that time frame you just played.

If you hover over the rank bar, it'll tell you how much AP you need for the next rank. Then you can look at the AP requires foe past ranks here: https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Alliance_Points

If you meant in a specific campaign, as opposed to your total, check the leaderboard in your home campaign.

If your playing on your home campaign and a new campaign started recently you can check how much you have made that way

I want to know the total of what I gave earned to get me to the rank I am on console can't find anything all I can find is rough idea going off my rank

This is the most accurate since the meters in the campaign are very delayed, especially the one that tracks your end of campaign rewards.
Boggles the mind as to why since the number for your alliance rank and the counter for your end of campaign rewards don't seem dependent on anything else that needs to be polled.

@VaranisArano's first answer would be best for that then as you can check what your progress is in the current rank then tally it to the the AP required for all the previous ones. That will you give you AP earned over that character's total playtime.

Gamepad UI does not specify how far you are into a rank other than that graphical estimate, unfortunately. It’s one of the many ways in which gamepad UI is needlessly inferior to keyboard UI. (For XP the exact progress in numbers and percentage to next level is shown on the character screen, so it could certainly be done here if they were so inclined.) I’m constantly switching back and forth to check.

I second this. That's how I kept track of my total amount of AP earned on my main PvP character while chasing grand overlord. The UESP list is good as it shows cumulative AP needed for the rank you're at.

I'm in between ranks I want to know the total as on console I can't find out the grand total I've earned I know when I get to lvl up how much I have roughly but there nothing to show exact amount from the beginning of game play.

If I understand what you're looking for this should get you close, but an exact number is not possible on console.

The table has total AP that you had to accumulate to get to whichever rank.

The currency tab in your inventory will show how much total AP you have on your character. If you've never banked or spent AP, that'll give you your answer. If you have banked AP, from that character only, then you can check your bank (using the "withdraw currency" option, and selecting AP from the dropdown) and doing some maths.

It does not appear that console has the ability to tell exactly how much AP you have made at any given time. ZOS would have to be the ones to add that functionality.

You can estimate or simply wait until you reach the next alliance rank and then do the math using the link I provided.
